44. Barely Hanging On

Well true to Hunter's words he found a different way to ask me to marry him every day, every single day for the past month. To say that I was not affected would be a lie, I love him, I really do but I don't know if I can set myself up to be hurt by him again.

Twice is more than enough already, although with each and every attempt he is slowly making it harder to say no to him.

The one thing I haven't done this time is shut everyone out, I am still talking to the girls and meeting up with everyone for dinner, Hunter does not shy away from showering me with affection and telling me he loves me in front of everyone.

They have all witnessed his attempts to get me to say yes to him. They are all wanting us to be together.

The only thing I have stopped is going over to Hunter's parents' house for dinner on the Sunday night, I just couldn't stand to see the look on Nathan's face over us being over.

Lost in my thoughts I almost didn't comprehend that Tim was knocking on my office door "Tim, if my door is open and I am not in a meeting you do not need to knock" I told him.

"Yes Miss Hastings" he replied. I gave him a sly look, he started working for me about 2 weeks ago, I was just finishing a meeting at the restaurant down stairs when I saw him walk up to the bar and order a drink. I walked over to him to see if he was alright, he was usually at work and never came in through the day.

After he told me that he had just been fired because his boss retired and gave the company to his son who wanted a busty blonde headed bimbo to be his administration assistant instead of someone that actually graduated college and has been working for the company for almost 10 years, starting as an intern and then working his way up to be working under the CEO.

It was actually perfect timing because we were just about to advertise Melanie's position, after she convinced me that it was better for her to work from LA, I think she was so passionate about wanting the job because her and Oliver had a connection that she wanted to explore.

I offered the job to Tim right on the spot and I have not regretted anything, well maybe only the fact that he has become so formal with my title.

"Hunter has asked if you could head over to the office building today to see the final touches and if there is anything else you would like to add before moving over next week. I was ...um... also ...um... wondering if you could ask Damian to stop ...um, stop .... hitting on me?" he questioned me breaking off into almost a whisper as he said the last part.

I still don't understand why he does not accept that he is gay, I am pretty sure by now everyone knows, when he is talking to Damian his cheeks always turn a deep shade of crimson and he is shy and his smile is always genuine.

He did kind of admit it to me, even if it was admitting it by refusing to acknowledge it, when we were at the bar talking about the job, he asked if Hunter would be alright with him working for me. I looked at him slightly stunned at first because quite frankly it has absolutely nothing to do with Hunter and second without even thinking about it, I blurted out "Why would Hunter care, you're gay aren't you".

I was completely shocked that I had said it, my hand flew up to cover my mouth and I went to apologise but he just looked away. What he said next kind of stunned me "Does everyone know" he sort of whispered.

I told him we all probably had our suspicions but I added that I have seen the way he reacts to Damian and it kind of sticks out, I think that everyone is waiting for the day for him to say it.

I continued looking at him standing in my office, he looked a bit uncomfortable, maybe Damian is taking this whole obsession a bit too far, he has just been relentless with him since I hired him, always making excuses to go and talk to him and going out with the boys for a drink after work every night just to spend a bit more time with Tim in hopes that he will eventually fall in love with him.
