Chapter 5

Alestria

"Hey, dad," I called him.

"Yes, Seah?" sabi niya sa kabilang linya.

"Are you busy?"

"Kind of... Is everything alright?"

Luminga ako sa paligid kung nando'n si mommy. Nang mapagtanto ko na wala siya ay sinagot ko ang tanong ni daddy.

"Uh, yes I'm fine but mom's not," wika ko.

"She's acting out very strange lately," I added.

"W-What's happening to her?"

"I don't know, I'll tell to you if I find out."

Narinig kong tinawag ang pangalan ni daddy.

"I'll hang up, now, may gagawin ka pa yata."

"Yes, I'm having a court trial in five minutes. Bye, Seah," he said.

"Bye, dad, take care," I said and hang up the phone.

This is so frustrating! I couldn't figure out what's happening. Kinuha ko ang bag ko at bumaba para pumasok sa afternoon class ko. Sumakay ako sa kotse namin na minamaneho ni Kuya Philip.

When mom received a phone call ay doon siya naging balisa. That happened last week and I even told her if she's fine at sinabi niya na ayos lang naman daw siya.

"Seah, nandito na tayo sa school mo, hindi ka pa ba bababa?" I heard Kuya Philip said.

Bumalik ako sa pagkatino at lumabas ng sasakyan. I went to my class at doon ko na lang tinuon ang atensyon ko.

It's been 6 years since I had my brain surgery. At first, I was scared because of the difficulties that I will receive, but later on I realized if I will not try, then I will not know how much worth it is.

I will still be thankful because someone believes in me. I don't know who that is, but something in me knows it exists.

"Hi, mom, good evening."

She gave me a peck on my right cheeks. "How's school?"

"It's still the same," sagot ko.

Tumango siya. "Kumain ka na ba ng dinner?"

Umiling ako. We both go to the dining table at kumain ng hapunan doon. None of us dared to speak. Patuloy akong kumain at natigil ako nang tawagin ako ni mommy.

"Seah?"

I looked at her. "Why, mom?"

"Do you remember where I supposed to live when I was young?" she asked.

Napaisip ako. Alam kong nakatira siya dati sa Alestria. We used to go there too for vacation when I was young, pero natigil ang pagpunta namin doon noong nawala 'yung lolo ko.

"Ah, yes, sa Alestria?"

She nodded. "We will move there next week."

I froze for a second. Wait, what? Is she serious? Don't tell me this is the one she's been thinking out that's why she's spaced out since last week.

"Why all of a sudden, mom? Is something wrong happening here that's why you wanted us to move?" I asked.

Agad siyang umiling. "I just wanted to, and besides I want to open our old business there."
