Footsteps clanked against the floor, metal on metal. With each step, they neared the open escape pod, holding much suspense in the air. Dakota froze, glancing over her shoulder to the door that overlooked the walkway of the cargo vessel. The sound was not the light patter of Ventress, but the heavy weight of a sith maniac. She swiftly stood up from the swiveled chair and pressed herself into the tight corner of the pod, out of sight from the hallway.

Blood pounded in her chest and behind her eyes, threatening to give away her hiding spot if it got any louder. The heavy sound of the person approaching must be enough to mask her raging heart. She inhaled deeply, keeping her head back as a shadow cut across the stream of light from the hall.

Darth Maul rounded the corner, his mind intently focused on the bald bounty hunter who hid somewhere aboard the ship. She had no place to hide here. Each step he took was cautious and purposeful. He held his saber at his side, making sure to check over his back just in case she appeared in an ambush.

Maul passed by the escape pod, prepared to turn down the upcoming hallway to continue his search, but a sensation from deep within caused him to stop. Dakota stared daggers at his shadow on the ground, already holding her lightsaber in preparation for the impending fight that was sure to break out.

His beady eyes darted all around his surroundings. He wasn't able to pin point exactly what he was sensing but something about the atmosphere felt vaguely familiar.. as if a ghost from the past loomed nearby. A chill settled on his skin. Instinctively, he turned his frame towards the door of the escape pod. The aura was resonating there.

"Brother" Savage called out, breaking Maul from his concentration. Dakota tensed at his voice, resulting in the blood boiling in her veins "The witch, I found her, she's still in the room with Kenobi. She tricked us"

"Hm..." Maul hummed, turning back to his brother.

"What is it?" Savage questioned.

Maul looked back towards the escape pod, deep in his thoughts "I thought I... felt something"

"Felt what?"

"Does not matter, let us return to the business at hand"

Dakota relaxed, sensing as the two disappeared down the hallway. She slumped away from the corner of the escape pod and rested her hands on the control panel breathlessly. Maul had been mere feet from her. His ominous shadow still lingered in the luminescentes of the walkway. She hung her head, staring through her dark strands of hair that dangled over her eyes.
