Connections

Another two months passed, Yuzuru's sole focus being only on the quad Axel and Emily.
She has moved from the cafe to a much larger club and even though she let go of some of the evening lessons she was giving, she still had no issue with him training later in the evening.
Nevertheless, he still kept the rule of picking her up each Friday without a fail.

As much as he loved skating, she was the only one who could get his mind off the frustration from not improving with the Axel as much as he would like.
Anya has clearly marked on the schedule that if he really sticks to it, patiently, he should be able to land it at the Beijing Olympics. Yet patience was a foreign word in Yuzuru's vocabulary.
So he still trained more than he should.
But at least thanks to Emily, he had somebody to look forward to and motivated him to actually quit at some point and go home for the day.

And for her birthday he even took a whole week off and they went together on proper holiday to Spain, once again visiting Nyx and Javi.
They seemed to have been really happy together, though Yuzuru still couldn't understand how exactly their relationship works.
It seemed to him they were at each others hair at least once a day but each fight always ended with laughter.

-Do they not mean any of the insults they throw at each other?

Yuzuru asked while he was walking down the beach with Emily and enjoying the smell of the sea.

-It's their way of expressing feelings.

-She called him a dimwit.

-Well, she could have used a much worse word.

-And that should be a praise?

-It made him laugh, didn't it?

-Yeah....that's what I don't get.

Emily looked at him, thinking if she ever stops being amazed by his innocence. Sometimes she did hear him saying "fuck sake" but that was only on very rare occasions. Otherwise, she never heard him speak badly about anyone or at least not with using any kind of profanities.
Whereas she was so used to them, that the word "fuck" or any other swear word had almost no value to her anymore.
But as much as she was used to them and didn't see an issue in it, she really liked this side of his.

-Oh, look!

Emily exclaimed when she noticed two perfect shells in the sand, both halves still attached to each other. They had the pearlescent inner side and the top was pristine white with light brown shading. 

-That is so nice, isn't it?

-Yeah.

Yuzuru let out with equal amazement in his voice, leaning over Emily's shoulder to look at it closely.
She picked them up and broke the little attachment that was holding them together, handing one of the halves to Yuzuru.

-No! Why did you break them?!

-So that now we can each have one! Like a talisman. Aren't you obsessed with such things? I am surprised things are not yet falling out of that closet of yours.

-But they should have stayed together....

-Awww.

Emily let out with slight sarcasm in her tone and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
Yuzuru just rolled his eyes at her and put his part of the shell into his pocket, thinking if he is really sometimes overdoing it with his attachments to things.

The summer was coming to an end and with it also came the appropriate weather. Nature making sure that everyone is well aware the sunny days are over.
