Drunken Chess

Yuzuru and Emily got to their hotel room, both still slightly perplexed from running into Nathan like that.

-I really don't think it was him who made that sound, Zu. It sounded way too girly.

-A guy can be also heartbroken over a woman, just that you know. Doesn't make him any less of a man.

Emily could see that he was almost getting offended over her playing down man's emotions but she was definitely sure it wasn't Nathan who made that whimper in the hallway.

-I am not saying it is a weakness or anything. It's just, I know Nathan, he would rather bite his own arm off than cry in public. Or to make such a sound.

-But there was nobody else with him.

Emily raised her eyebrows, wondering if Yuzuru witnessed the same scene that she did.

-He was obviously hiding a girl there, around the corner. You saw how his arm was stretched against the wall for you not to go any further.

-So you think he has a girlfriend?

-To me, it sounded more like one of your fans.

-But then he could bring her out and I would give her an autograph or something.

-Hm....true. I dunno. But he was definitely hiding somebody there.

Yuzuru shrugged his shoulders, wanting to let the matter go because even though he was equally curious, he also wanted to give Nathan some privacy.
He went to take a shower and getting ready for a meeting with his PR team once he got out, while Emily sat on the bed, switching through the channels on the TV to find one in English.

-Are you sure you don't wanna join? We will have it over dinner.

-I am sure, Zu. I've seen way too much of your PR team in the past few days. I will just order room service and watch some silly soap operas on the TV.

-As you wish.

Yuzuru leaned over, giving her a quick kiss, and went to wait at the hotel elevator for his team.

He got into the hallway, seeing only one of the assistants there and after checking his watch he saw that he is actually quite too early.
Yuzuru tried to engage in a bit of small talk with her, but she kept checking her phone, looking quite distracted. In the end, he just asked her if everything is alright, worried if maybe an article came out that could cause some issues.

-Oh, no, sorry. It's just my uncle.

-The one who works at CERN? Gary, right?

-Yes, he came over to visit our family but is leaving already tomorrow.

-And you haven't seen him yet, right?

-Yeah, it just fell into the dates of the competition. But it's okay. My family is planning a trip to Switzerland anyway.

-Why don't you invite him for the dinner with us?

-Oh? No, no, no, Mr. Hanyu, it is okay!

-Please. At least it will be less dull.

He said with a smile and was pretty sure the girl has blushed back at him. But then a worried look came across her face as Emily, her boss, made her way to them with her other Japanese assistant.

-Don't worry, I will tell it to her.

He quickly whispered into her ear and then greeted PR Emily as well as her second assistant that was carrying a huge stack of papers and folders, making him wish to be rather back in the hotel room and watch a soap opera.
After the greetings were over and they got into the elevator, Yuzuru mentioned just by the way, that he heard Sara's uncle is in town and invited him to join them for the dinner.
The look that PR Emily gave him after he said that was far from being a warning look of his PR, but rather one from a woman, who knew very well why he did it. And who was concerned for him.
But he just shrugged it off, seeing nothing bad in wanting to know about how Anya is doing.
