Worries

As Yuzuru was falling asleep to Emily's singing, she was meanwhile buried on the sofa with her arms folded on her chest and both Nyx and Javi sitting in front of her with determined faces to make her see their point of view.

-I can't believe you are on his side! He had no right to do that! Was I then move to the Fridays just because of him? Not because I actually deserved it?

-Of course, you did deserve it! The sales were increasing way before he started to chip in! It was just his way of showing support!

Nyx quickly countered and didn't take her eyes of Emily who was just fuming and staring to the side at the wall next to her.

-He could have show support just by showing up! I didn't want anything else from him!

-Yeah, but anytime he did show up, he was drinking just his frickin' mint tea! Not exactly a gold mine, if you ask me.

Emily just rolled her eyes and kept her gaze away from those two.
Nyx looked at Javi, asking for some support and he leaned forward, trying to get Emily's attention by putting both of his hands on her knees.

-Em, please look at me.

She huffed but turned to his gaze, her arms still crossed on her chest.

-What?!

Emily snapped but Javi stayed calm and firm.

-You have no idea how many girls I lost or didn't even attempt to date just because of figure skating. We just don't have time to take our girls on nice dates or spend long holidays somewhere on a beach. Yuzuru just felt guilty he couldn't be there for you to show you his support. Because it is there even when he can't physically show it.

-Nathan would never do such a thing. He respected my own freedom.

-Don't you DARE to bring Nathan into this!!!

Nyx almost shouted and Javi began to wonder if he is going to end up pacifying two girls tonight instead of just one. He wished he had drunk more of that whiskey.

He took one of his hands from Emily's knee, put it on Nyx's to calm her down, and continued.

-I spoke with Nathan quite a lot about you two after you left him. And from what I figured out about the relationship you two had, it seems to me that the fact he couldn't be there for you was exactly the reason you broke up with him. Am I right?

-Well, yeah, but --

-No, but. You wanted a guy who would be there for you. Unconditionally. And you found one who is exactly like that. And yeah, it sometimes happens that in his efforts to show his support and affection, he does overstep some boundaries. But it all comes from the right place in his heart.

It looked like his words began to finally get through to her and Emily relaxed her arms, processing what Javi was telling her.

-Nobody is perfect, Em. Yuzuru is just trying. Really, really hard.

-Well....he just shouldn't be trying this hard.

And Emily waved with her arm in the direction of the whiskey bottles in defeat.

-He already lost one girl he loved over busy schedules. He just doesn't want to make the same mistake twice.

-But--

-Didn't he start cutting his afternoon practices short to be with you?

-Yes.

Emily mumbled and dodged Javi's sad eyes, staring now at the floor, a feeling of guilt washing over her.
