As soon as the plane landed, he was the first one to get up only to be told by the flight attendant to sit back down until the plane completely stops.
And though he took countless flights in his lifetime, he was sure that this specific pilot just decided to go the slowest speed possible to its terminal.
The very second the plane finally stopped and the flight attendant gave him a quick nod of approval he darted up, grabbed his bag, and strode towards the exit.

He stopped the nearest taxi, gave the address to the driver, and checked his phone again.
And there it was. Among the unimportant messages, a missed call from the hospital.

Beads of cold sweat started to cover his palms and the unbearable fear of the result of her surgery was yet again reducing his ability to take a breath.

Yuzuru stared at the phone for several minutes, dreading hitting the button to dial the hospital back.
He only wanted to hear that she is fine.
Any other option was not acceptable.
Yet it was only all the other options that tormented his mind.
The fear started to take over his senses again and he felt as if he would be getting a panic attack.

And before he knew it, the car has stopped and the driver announced they are at the location, pointing at the huge building right next to them.
Yuzuru mindlessly fished out his credit card from his pocket and handed it to the guy almost forgetting to take it back as he was stepping out of the car already.
He tucked it back into his wallet, seeing the little paper of Anya's dreams sticking out of one of the little pockets.

As much as he wanted to run inside, he didn't feel like he had the power to move. He sat down on one of the large, concrete flower pots and took out his asthma inhaler.
He took several deep inhales and just stared at the wide entrance door, knowing that once he goes through and hears the news, there won't be any coming back.

He was taking in the chilly air filled with the crispy smell of rain, so typical for England, and the grey sky perfectly reflected his current state.
The state that he was in ever since the break-up anyway. Only until Emily showed up in his life - the first rays of sunshine in his gloomy life without Anya. But no matter how much he loved Emily, he knew that if he would have to live in a world where Anya isn't alive anymore, it would all be just black. Exactly like the black holes that she was studying, so dark that not a single light particle could get through. And that he would be pulled into that unescapable darkness with the same gravitational force.

Yuzuru finally got up and went through the sliding double door, aiming straight for the reception desk.

There were altogether four nurses behind the large desk, each of them staring into a computer in front of them and taking care of patients and family members that were in the line in front of him. Yuzuru ruffled his hair a bit and combed them to the side in an attempt to make it clear he is not the patient here.
And once it was his turn, he approached the nurse, trying to find the words, yet his throat was already closed up.

-How can I help you, sir?

Yuzuru looked at the string around his wrist and then back at the nurse, somehow Anya's name not willing to come out. He swallowed the aching lump in his throat as the nurse asked him once more.

-Sir? Can we help you?

-Um...Anya. Anya Fraser. She was admitted thirteen or so hours ago.

-Alright, give me a moment.

The nurse was speedily typing up something into the computer while asking him additional questions and Yuzuru was having a hard time relating to her calm composure. Almost making him annoyed that she is so damn calm as if nothing was happening. As if his little world was not about to crumble.
