Y/n was sitting on the air mattress, waiting for her husband to get home from yet another tournament that was held this month.

She was a working woman and was able to handle both house and work skilfully. Nothing like her husband who was always out, either playing chess like a psycho or at the clubs playing poker.

So when he was out playing chess for the third time this month, y/n was super pissed at him. She was glaring at the clock, tapping her toe against the cold floor, cuddled in the sheets for warmth.

Benny had promised he would be home by five and y/n even got worried and called his friend Harry to see if they had reached New York.

Turns out that their fight had landed at four in the evening and Benny was out visiting Cleo and Arthur, his other friends.

It was eleven at night when he finally decided to show up at their doorstep.

Just as always, he looked tired yet handsome. But y/n wasn't falling for that again.

'Where were you?' she asked, letting him in and shutting the door rather loudly.

'I was out.' he said.

Y/n took a deep breath so as to not burst out on him.

'You were supposed to be back by five.' she mumbled softly.

'Give me a break y/n, I'm really tired, we'll talk when I'm done freshening up.' he dismissed her and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

So again, the woman waited patiently.

Let him breathe, don't be clingy.

She thought.

When he came out, she offered him some tea and then they sat in the living room, right opposite to each other.

'So...why did you think it was okay to see your friends before coming home to your wife who's been waiting for weeks now?' she asked calmly.

'Arthur needed some help with chess.' Benny sighed.

'Yeah, chess again.' y/n muttered under her breath and Benny looked up at her.

'What was that?' he asked in an annoyed tone.

'You heard me.' y/n said.

'Well, it's my job, I can't quit it just because you want me to stay home with you.' he said.

'I work too but I'm always here for you, I'm always making sure that I'm giving time to my husband.' y/n spat.

'What is the matter with you?' he asked annoyedly.

'I just want you to be with me, I'm always alone, you're busy and I have no one except you.' she said.

'I can't believe you're being selfish.' he said.

'I think I'm gonna go sleep, dinner's ready get it for yourself.' she said, going into the room and getting under the sheets.

She was furious with him for saying that she was the one being selfish.

A couple of minutes later, she heard his footsteps advancing towards their bedroom and she turned her back to the door, closing her eyes and pretending to sleep.

Cool air rushed inside the sheets when Benny got in and shifted closer to her, placing his hand on her waist.

'Love, I know you're awake.' he mumbled against her ear and y/n opened her eyes, sighing heavily.

'I'm so sorry, I never meant to say that my dear.' he said, pulling her to his chest.

Y/n turned to her husband and looked into his eyes.

'It's okay...' she said.

Benny cupped her cheeks and placed a kiss on her lips and he would be lying if he said that he didn't miss her.

After all, she is the woman he truly loves...

'I've missed you.' y/n said when they pulled away.

'I've missed you too my love.' Benny cooed.

'Now tell me why you were actually pissed at me?' he asked, placing his hand on her hips.

'I just want you to be around when I'm going to deliver our baby in eight months.' she said.

She watched his eyes becoming wider and his pupils dilating more than they already were.

'Are you serious?!' he asked excitedly, holding her more closer if that was even possible.

'Mhm, dead serious.' she said, smiling at her husband.

'Oh my love, you have no idea how happy you've made me right now!' Benny chuckled placing kisses all over her face.

'I love you , I love you soo much! And I'll do anything for you and the baby! I promise I'll be home on time, I'll stop playing poker and going out with friends, I'll cook food, do the laundry and-'

Benny wanted to continue but y/n pulled him in a kiss to shut him up. You see, the couple was trying to make a baby from over a year now and when y/n finally told him the news, she put him on cloud nine.

'I just want you to be here for me...' y/n said.

'I will, I want to be a good dad and a better husband.' Benny said sternly.

'You're a great husband my love and I'm sure the baby will love you.' y/n assured.

Benny kissed her again and they just stayed in each others' arms until Benny got up and pressed his ear against her belly.

'What are you doing?' y/n asked as she felt super ticklish but he held her in place.

'Shh, stop talking for a second.' he said sternly.

'Okay...' y/n whispered and looked at his blonde head quietly.

'I'm trying to hear the baby, why isn't it kicking?' Benny said.

'Oh my god, get you head off me you silly! I'm just a month pregnant!' y/n laughed at Benny.

'Oh yeah, the...the baby's not ready to move yet.' Benny said awkwardly making her laugh even more.

'I'm so stupid.' he said under his breath.

'No, you aren't, you're just excited.' she said, caressing his cheek.

'Yes I am, I wanted this from so long!' he exclaimed.

'Do you think it's a boy?' y/n asked.

'What if it's a girl?' she continued.

'A boy or a girl, I'll love them equally and I hope they're bloody brilliant at chess just like their father.' Benny sassed.

'Oh hell no, I'm not having any little chess addicts running around my home all day!' y/n exclaimed and the couple burst out laughing.

'Take some rest now, I want you to be healthy.' he mumbled, kissing on her forehead and then turned the lights off.

'You know, I don't mind having little chess addicts.' she said making him giggle in the darkness.
