Your Pov:

Dear diary,
Today was different. It was difficult... I tried, I stood up for myself. This isn't easy. No matter how hard I try, he's going to be there to stab me and pull me back down. But that's my life, weird, messy, complicated, sad, sad and above all...sad. And I owe it all to ✨Benny.✨

"Y/n!!! Y/N!" I heard Beth screaming.

Why does this woman always scream? I thought.

"What is it Harmon?!" I closed my diary, rushed out of my room and went downstairs.

"Look who decided to show up after all this time." she said, glaring at a figure standing outside our door. I pushed her out of my way and stood in the doorway. A small smile crept on my face but I covered it up with a frown. "Why are you here?" I asked.

"I just wanted to- I mean... I'm sorry about all of it." the person said.

I looked back at Beth and she gave me a slight nod. "Come in." I said.

"Oh come on girls, don't be mad at me. Look, I got you all of this."

"ICE- CREAM! FUCK OUT OF MY WAY, Y/N!" Beth screamed again and pushed past me to hug her.

"See, I told you. She won't be mad at you if you got her some ice-cream." I giggled.

"Wait? You weren't mad at her for going back to Kentucky without us?" Beth asked me.

"No you silly, I wasn't mad at Jolene." I glanced at my friend standing beside her. After a nice, long, much needed group hug, we pulled away and I had a pajama party with them.

Only these beautiful ladies can make my day, I'm so lucky to have them as my best friends.

I yawned and slept on the couch all night. It felt cozy.

The next morning I woke up with a wonderful ✨back pain.✨

"Aaaaaahhhhhh, I'm getting old." I whined and Jolene chuckled. She was preparing the tea in our kitchen.

"Nobody forced you to sleep on that goddamn couch you dumb bitch." she giggled.

"Y/n, dammit! You're still not ready! Get your arse up! We're catching the flight to LA by 11am.

Oh God! How did I forget about that! I thought.

Well, you see, Beth Harmon is a growing chess player and being her best friends, me and Jolene go with her to all her tournaments. That's when it all started, that's when my life turned upside down.

Even though I never played chess, I was always going everywhere with her. We're like a little cute family...

But being around Beth means meeting all her chess mates, meeting him too. She knows about me and Benny. She knows he's always rude and cocky around me, she hates that about him.

As I stuffed my diary in my bag, I thought about what had happened at the supermarket beside the bar yesterday. I hadn't told my friends about it yet. Well, living in New York isn't easy. You can easily walk into Benny literally anywhere. He's always out in the clubs and bars playing poker.

"I'm ready!" I said.

Jolene grinned and then we took a taxi to the airport. The flight was quite pleasant. I slept all the way to LA.

An hour later, we checked in our hotel room, the one at which all the US Open chess tournaments were going to be held.

"I'm starving!" Jolene said. She's always throwing tantrums when she's hungry. "Why don't you call the room service then?" I said.

"Nah, let's just go downstairs, it'll be more fun to eat in the dining area." Beth said.

"I'll just freshen up, you guys should go ahead." I said.

"Don't be late." Beth said. They picked up their wallets and shut the room door.

Fifteen minutes later...

I was ready to go downstairs after freshening up and putting on some light makeup. I put some cash in my wallet and locked the room door before walking down a long corridor.

My eyes darted to a giant open balcony in the corridor, the view was spectacular, I could basically see the entire city from there. Plus it was the time for sunset. I went closer to it and leaned on the metal fence.

Sometimes, I feel peaceful when I'm alone. I closed my eyes shut and inhaled the fresh air deeply. It was getting cooler my the minute.

The moment was ruined when I felt a presence right behind me. I opened my eyes and found a familiar pair of hands beside my right and left hands. I was trapped between them.

I gulped with fear, knowing who it was. I straightened up my body and shivered when I heard the familiar voice.

"Miss me?"
