Anyways, I was happy to come back home.

Home sweet home.

I was so exhausted that I overslept in the morning and almost missed my interview. My day was pretty pleasant since the interviewer was rather impressed by me. I was hoping that I pulled it off and that I'll get a new job sooner or later. Right now, I was sipping on my tea and watching my favourite show with Jolene. Tea was the only thing that I desperately wanted to make my day more perfect and Jolene was kind enough to make me some.

It was raining so heavily that I almost missed the doorbell. "It's probably Beth!" I got up from the couch to open the door because I was so excited to tell her about my day.

My eyes were widened at what I saw. Smudged eyeliner, pale lips and a bird's frizzy nest instead of her usual neat bob of red hair. I held in my laughter knowing that she had a terrible day but Jolene came up behind me and started wheezing. "Think something's funny do you?" Beth snarled.

"Poor dear, come in." I pulled her in and hugged her as I shot a glare at Jolene.

"I had a bad day." Beth mumbled.

"Its okay, you're here now..." I stroked her back comfortingly.

Jolene spread out her arms and pulled us in for a group hug that made Beth giggle instantly.

We spent sometime with Beth and then I came back to my room to get some much- needed beauty sleep. As usual, I got my diary out and started writing about the most amazing day that I had in quite sometime.

I sighed as I finished writing and kept my diary on the nightstand. That's when a paper slipped out and slid underneath my bed as it touched the smooth floor. I groaned and stretched out my arm to get it.

What might this be? I thought when I opened the folded note.

Inside it was a message written in a familiar, elegant cursive writing.

Dear Y/n,

I want to change what's between us, give me a chance. Meet me at the park, tomorrow night at 9pm, come alone.

~B.W

I gawked at the initials on the paper in my hand until the sudden loud voice of thunder snapped me out of it.

Don't go, it's a trap.

I knew him so well, this has to be Benny, he's never gonna change. There's no way I'm going alone...hell I don't even wanna go in the first place.

I tore the paper into pieces before putting it in the little dustbin kept near the door of my room. Then I slept under the warm sheets, making sure to not think about that git.

Mornings felt colder than ever before, the sun was hiding behind the dark clouds that still roamed over the city and the breeze carried a pleasant scent of wet mud. I kept reading the newspaper article about chess. Beth Harmon was all they talked about and I was so proud to see her flourishing that way. Somewhere at the back of my mind, I was still debating with myself whether to go to the park or not.
