Having fairy wings might have been the most interesting thing in Kokichi's life!
Their glittery purple wings, allowing them to fly from place to place, it was super convenient.
Not to mention how cool they looked! They loved their wings, they thought they were super pretty!
Though...it wasn't too unique, there were definitely others with the same shape and color of wings as them....
But the unique part came from the pattern on the wings. Each fairy had a small and different pattern drawn on their wings in a different color. Some had words, same had different shapes, some had just lines.
And those patterns were what lead you to your soulmate!
The color was your soulmate's favorite color, but the pattern was really just randomly generated. If the pattern matched someone's and the color was their favorite color, you found your soulmate!
Kokichi's pattern was a series of squiggly and messy lines followed by two hearts, one small and one big. The color was a dark blue, it blended nicely with their purple wings, though it was a little obvious.
But the problem wasn't how cool their pattern was, it was that they didn't know where their soulmate would be to match it. It wasn't going to be easy to find them. In order to see the pattern fully, you'd have to be up close.
And who would want to be up close to them?
No one! That's the answer!
Kokichi was...mischievous and that's not because they were a fairy! They just liked being that way, pranks were fun for them! They wouldn't do anything super bad, just annoying.
And a lot of people didn't appreciate that, so they were treated as only an annoyance and nothing else.
It really didn't seem like anyone would want to be friends with them, nevermind be soulmates.
And they didn't care too much, they've made peace with the fact that they would most likely be alone. Sure, the whole soulmate thing intrigued them, but it didn't seem like it would ever be for them.
Until...
"Woah! We have a new student???" Kokichi shouted in surprise to really no one in particular.
A mysterious stranger they had never seen before had walked into the classroom. They weren't wearing any pronoun pins like Kokichi did, so Kokichi decided to refer to them as "they" for now.
But what they were wearing was all black clothing, kind of emo, with their accessories and faint eyeliner definitely proving that point. Their wings were a dark blue and from here, the pattern on their wings could barely be seen, especially the color, since it seemed to blend in.
And their eyes were...gold? Grey? It was a weird color. And those eyes seemed to widen, as the owner was pretty startled at Kokichi's recognition. They clearly weren't expecting anyone to notice them, at least not in such a loud manner.
Kokichi honestly felt a bit bad about that, since everyone was looking at them now and Kokichi could see them freeze up and start fidgeting with their rings. The actions suggested that they might have anxiety, and Kokichi very much just made it worse.
Jeez. Off to a bad start with them already...
Kokichi didn't want to have a bad first impression! Not this time, at least, this new kid was super handsome! And their style was pretty cool!
