A/N happy birthday kokichi!!!!!

Kokichi's birthday.

The one day of the year that it was all about him. Where D.I.C.E. would stop everything they were doing and spend the whole day baking him a huge cake. With like, multiple layers! And different colored frosting!

It was pretty impressive considering most of them didn't know how to bake....

And they would always try to pull a surprise party too, though it never actually was a surprise. It became kind of a joke between them, with the D.I.C.E. members trying to keep super secret about their plans, and with Kokichi having to pick up tiny hints and put the pieces together.

He did always end up finding out and he really thought it was fun walking into the place he wasn't even supposed to know about at a way earlier time than he should, just to see the whole group running around with different decorations and baking materials trying to make this one of his best birthdays ever!

Kokichi felt at home during those times, he felt safe and his heart felt at peace. A genuine smile would come to his face and he'd laugh in adoration of all his friends.

But none of that was happening this time.

D.I.C.E. wasn't here.

No one was here because no one even cared that it was Kokichi's birthday.

When he came into the dining hall this morning and announced it, a smile bright on his face, because maybe, just maybe, there was the chance that they would put all their hatred aside and celebrate his birthday.

It was stupid to think that, and Kokichi's smile disappeared almost as soon as it started.

Everyone immediately thought he was lying and just looking for more attention and presents. They didn't even let the birthday conversation last a full minute before dismissing it! It was like it didn't even matter at all.

And sure, truthfully, Kokichi didn't really know if it was his birthday. All he knew was that Monokuma had showed up this morning, telling him privately that it was his birthday and that he should "celebrate". He was probably alluding to murder as a form of celebration, something Kokichi ...hoped he didn't have to do.

But Monokuma probably had another intention too. Because by just telling Kokichi it was his birthday and not telling everyone else, it maximizes the chance of no one ever believing him. Therefore, it created even more tension between him and the others.

Gee, thanks, Monokuma!

So now here Kokichi was. In his room, alone, with a bag of his favorite grape candy he found in the kitchen. He couldn't make himself a cupcake or anything, he was terrible at baking. So he had to settle with this.

It was okay though.

Because it still reminded him of D.I.C.E.

And that one birthday where they got him all the grape flavored candy they could find. All of it. Some of it was stuff Kokichi hadn't even heard of before! And it was all given to him in two overflowing buckets, which they all managed to eat in less than two weeks.

...Kokichi missed them. He missed hanging out with them and pulling pranks with them and eating candy with them and just celebrating all of their birthdays together!
