Chapter 77

Matt's Pov.

"Okay so I wasn't actually gonna play this one for you but I mean...I honestly love it. We started mastering it so this obviously isn't what's gonna sound like once it's finished." Harry told me as we sat in the studio.

He's been showing me some songs he's been writing and they're honestly all so fucking good. Strangely enough though, the few he's showed me are very...I don't know, don't have a ton of emotion. None of them have anything to do with a relationship or heartbreak. I guess I just thought he'd write more with his breakup. That's always good inspiration. And I'm pretty fucking sure he has been but just doesn't want to show me. I definitely do know how to read in between the lines. Maybe he doesn't want me to.

Alycia has her first show in London tomorrow. We got into London this morning so her and Sierra have been going around the city most of the day I think.

I came into the studio a few hours ago. I didn't tell Alycia I was working with Harry but I think she kind of figured.

"Alright, hell yeah. What's it called?" I asked and he lightly smirked. "Fine Line."

He seems kind of nervous yet that fucking smirk stays plastered on this motherfuckers face.

"Alright alright alright, I like the name. Maybe it's a line I can read between. Let's hear it." I joked and he laughed with a head shake as he started playing it through the studio speakers.

It's just been Harry and I the past few hours but some producer and writing friends of mine from London and Harry's producer Kid are all coming later.

The music started through the speakers and it was very light music at first. I almost couldn't even hear it.

Suddenly his voice came through and my body stilled.

"Put a price on emotion
I'm looking for something to buy
You've got my devotion
But man, I can hate you sometimes"

And there it is.

"I don't want to fight you
And I don't wanna sleep in the dirt
We'll get the drinks in
So I'll get to thinking of her"

He just looked down at his thighs as he really listened to it. The amount of emotion I can already hear is just overwhelming. It sounds nice. Even though I can tell he was in pain when he wrote this, it's nice to hear him speak on it. Let it out.

"We'll be a fine line
We'll be a fine line
We'll be a fine line
We'll be a fine line
We'll be a fine line
We'll be a fine line"

His voice sounded incredible. It was sang in a bit of different tone than usual. It was...soft. I don't know, he sounded very vulnerable. The lyrics are vulnerable and his voice matched.

"Test of my patience
There's things that we'll never know
You sunshine, you temptress
My hand's at risk, I fold"

As soon as I heard the last lyric, I felt like I finally understood. I never quite could wrap my head around why he just decided to up and leave what could've been without waiting for them to maybe have another chance. He wanted it right then and she couldn't give it right then.
