Chapter 14
Wall of Petals

"You found me." Wala akong mabuong salita ng mga oras na nadatnan ako ni Radzyn sa gitna ng hardin. Tinago ko ang kuyom na kamao sa likuran, kunwari walang dumaloy na kuryente saaking katawan sa biglaang pagsulpot nito sa likod ko.

Nakarating na ako sa garden ng Reyna. Ito lang ang tanging garden na alam ko sa palasyo, kanina pa ako paikot-ikot. Akala ko nga ay mali ako ng napuntahan dahil wala dito ang anino ng lalake. Ngunit pagtungtong ang araw pababa sa malaking pader, nahanap namin ang isa't isa.

This was our favorite spot, favorite time.

I watch him manly walk toward me. His hands both on his pocket and intently staring back at me looking tall. Perfect.

I have read a story once. It was written that; a prince and peasant meet at the verge of sunset. They creep in silence in surrender to the great awe. Imagining it, I find it quite attractive... and finally being the one experiencing it does feel... great.

"Di kita hinanap," pagtatama ko. Nagsuot ng ngisi ang lalake, mas bumagay 'yon sakan'ya. Mas nakikilala ko siya doon. Radzyn, the flirty-looking-guy.

"Then, lucky me, I found the most beautiful Juliet among the roses." His words again. I remembered our little talk back at Peta, the time where he said I was indeed pretty for his knees to bend. He surely doesn't have any idea how my heartbeat stop at the very moment. I couldn't admit it even for myself that I did fall into his trap. But I was enchanted by his heart-shaking phrases.

'Di ko maamin... na natalo ako ng ngisi niya.

I am also just a woman, who once dream of princes and knights, just how Gerrie told me how polite they are... that they'll summon the great danger just to prove their love for me. I am bewitch by that short legend. Sometimes, I'll look up in the sky. Imagining things to also have someone beside me.

"What are you doing?" Naglakad lakad ako. My left hand is leaving a trace at the bush, while he's watching me.

"Admiring you?" I glance a bit at him.

"I am asking formally."

"Geez you and your coldness. Kinikilig ako." Tumigil siya paharap saakin kaya ganoon din ang ginawa ko. Napansin ko ang tingin nito sa hawak na rosas. I like him holding flowers, it's an addition to his charms. Imagine him as the prince of roses, and he's right infront of you. Grinning handsomely. He'll be the death of us.

"What's with the rose?"

"Someone told me, roses brings different tale. It tells about great memory and legends. Then I remember you." Inabot niya ang Juliet Rose saakin. I froze. His eyes is pecuilar, but not mysterious as before. It's humming romance, leaving me breathless. Bumaba ang tingin ko sa bulaklak, dahan dahan akong nag-angat ng palad patanggap. Dumampi ang palad ko sa malambot niyang kamay.

Nagwala muli ang pintig ng puso ko. May elektrisidad itong pinasa saakin. Kaunting balat lang pero ito na agad ang reaksyon ng katawan ko. Sumilay sa gitna namin ang tuluyang paglubog ng araw. Tinanggap ko ang rosas habang pilit kinukubli ang kaba.

"Tell me about the great tale, Radzyn."

"Woah, interesado ka?" Sinuklian ko siya ng titig dahil sinira niya ang atmospira. "Chill, lahat naman sasabihin ko sa'yo eh. 'Cause you're my sweet flavoured heart. As I was saying..."

"I don't fit as Juliet." Natigil siya sa pagsasalita sa tugon ko. Tinignan ko ang rosas at nilaro ang malambot na petals.

"What do you mean, Vira? You fit at everything."
