Quick a/n:

You're amazing. Gorgeous. Brilliant.

It is up to you to find and achieve happiness, not anyone else.

That's an odd thing to wish.

. . .

"I don't care."

"What's with you? What happened to that amusement everytime I beat the other aides?"

"You chose yourself over my protection. Would you do the same to Zen?"

"I did not."

"You left me unattended on a road we were already ambushed on once to find someone who was no threat to me."

"At the time I was unsure if she was a threat or not. The last hunter was hostile not only to me, but Mr Obi as well. I hadn't spoken to her in many years, so I was unsure of her."

"You told me she was no threat."

"I told you what was necessary. As prince, it is not your responsibility to worry about potentials. Especially when you have me to guard you."

"Then, congrats on your victory."

I smile contently to myself. I have to stay on his good side if I intend to return after the green. I've witnessed first hand who has more power between Zen and him.

. . .

When the carriage finally makes it to Wistal palace I am keeling over. I force myself to allow princy to leave first before following. In his office he gets straight back to work while I'm still trying to get my bearings from the carriage.

"I am impressed with your work." He says while writing on blank papers.

"I have trained for a long time."

"Not your battles. You settled the skirmish between those buffoons with minimal knowledge of their financial and other standings. As well as knowing little of the inner workings of finance." He stops writing and spins in his chair to look at me, "I think you will make a fine chief of your village, and I wish you would consider working with me to open trades with this kingdom when you take over."

I almost snort, "It's unexpected to receive such an earnest compliment from you. Though, I do not plan to become chief. My brother, Hiraku, will hopefully be the next chief." He opens his mouth, but I cut him off, "If I was to be chief, I would definitely open trades with Clarines. . . through Zen."

The corner of his mouth twitched up into a crooked smile. A genuine one, if I have seen one from him, "I hope I could convince you otherwise, on both matters."

"Nope!" I smile sweetly. "There is no way I would ever spend more time with you than I have to! Don't pretend to be hurt by that. You knew if you made being your aide the punishment."

"Speaking of which." He pauses to create suspense, crossing one leg over the other, "How many days have passed since then?"

"A week or two." I say.

"That seems well enough, you can go."

". . . Really?"

He turns around in his chair and starts to write again. "Yes. Hurry up, I'm trying to work." I bow before leaving quickly.

Is. . .is this what freedom feels like?

A/n Ik this is uncalled for in the middle of the ch but there are two things I don't want to forget about. one: Izana doesn't like her like that. I didn't mean to make it seem like he did. He's just genuinely interested in her future and the benefits to Clarines. Two: I said in an earlier ch that in the village she read about the outside and then said she couldn't read. Basically, woops. We're gonna pretend that didn't happen, y/n is for the most part illiterate.
