I perused a bag of food I had collected from the Cabin and distributed the remaining contents between us as we sat on our mattresses forming a circle.
"Any status on Glowy?" Liam munched on his apple. Deccan stopped chewing and gazed at the ground regretfully.
Seeing the shift in his mood, Amelia scowled at Liam. "Don't worry, we'll ask the pixies. They'll help if they want to remain in our good graces."
"That we can do if we eat faster." Grant bit a huge chunk off the nutrition bar.
My appetite had lessened, thinking about my morning episode. Imagining where it could have led us if we hadn't been interrupted.
I bitterly chuckled at myself at the very thought of him liking someone like me. Despite meeting us last, Deccan exudes the very energy of a undisputed leader. I was nowhere as useful or important as the rest of them. I didn't posses Grant's physical strength, Liam's sharp mind nor Amelia's knowledge on flora that could potentially help us in the future.
The only thing I am, is a disappointment to my parents.
Even though I fail to contribute to the group, the least I could do is not burden them and carry my weight.
"Yumi what's wrong?" Deccan lifted my chin with his finger.
I looked around to see other already by the door discussing our next steps. Deccan shifted a little closer, his magnetic brown eyes watching me with concern.
"Nothing. I'm fine." I lied.
"No you are not. Please, don't hide anything from me.
If it's with regards to earlier this morning then I apologise for crossing any boundaries. If I made you feel uncomfortable, I'll keep my distance--"
Before he could complete I hugged him impulsively.
His body went stiff under mine. When I considered pulling away, his arm gently snaked around my waist and stayed there. After a moment he let go.
"You are the last person on Earth who could make me uncomfortable." I said sincerely. His eyes widened for a split second.
"Glad to hear that. I bet we'll become a pair of inseparable best friends by the end of this journey." He smiled earnestly.
B-Best friends?
A wave of displeasure surged through me but I wore an unfaltering smile for his sake.
"Come on, they're waiting." He took my hand and helped me get on my feet.

We travelled down the path Deccan had showed this morning and sure enough, we reached the huge mushroom shaped hut. Frioren and others carried huge pieces of log, twice their own size and stacked it on top of the pile effortlessly.
