I sat by the chairs outside Kings Hall as the meetings had started off without me. My friends, Anarzia and Telsin were in among other no-nonsense ministers. I was getting anxious sitting outside, like a child waiting for test results while the principal spoke to the parents.
Tests and examinations were never really a trouble for me, as I had selected the subjects that were my strengths. Although occasionally I felt the teachers trying to appease me, since my dad had branched out investments for my school. Maybe that was the reason teachers and students alike, never did anything to upset me.
That's when I made up my mind, reminding myself of the confident person I was, entering the Hall amidst an ongoing meeting shouldn't be a problem. Only issue was that my parents had no influence here.
I was on my own.
Taking in a deep breath I creaked open the door enough for me to slip in.
King Glorian was in a heated disagreement with Queen Imara and the ministers, elves in lower ranks sat at the far end of the rectangular table were discussing over heaps of books and maps.
Deccan and Liam keenly listened to Duchess Rinae as they flipped through a book. Amelia was smiling giddily at a presentable young elven minister who was admiring her equally. She played with her hair occasionally batting her lashes at the minister who puffed his chest out, receiving the encouragement he needed.
Anarzia and Telsin sat by themselves both looking in opposite directions; unwilling to talk. The older sister frowned at her brother's subtle approaches. Seeing no progress, he sighed and sat back in his seat staring at the ceiling.
Grant folded his hands and paced near Deccan, presumably easing his distress of filled rooms.
I decided to join Amelia on her adventures. Slipping into an empty chair beside her I cleared my throat.
She immediately heard it and turned to me.
"Hey-- Before you ask; we saw a lot actually. Deccan didn't see your kiss but the rest of us did. So I guess you spared him that part." She spoke quickly.
"I'm fine too. Thanks for asking--"
"So what do you think about him?" She pulled my chair near her and cocked her head towards the young minister staring at her all heart eyes.
"Uhh aren't you and Grant . . ?" I frowned.
"Nope, we like each other but we aren't dating. So he's free to flirt with anyone as am I. Now, what do you think?" She wiggled her brows and grinned.
"That's confusing but if you guys are okay with it . . . I think he looks great." I muttered gazing at Duchess Rinae's company.
"Hello?" She snapped her fingers before me. "You're the confusing one here ma'am." She turned away from the minister tuning her full attention on me.
"Now why're you staring at that him?" She pouted. "We assumed you moved on from Deccan to Killian and now you're looking at him all lovesick. Make up your mind hon' ." She held my hands gently.
I looked down glumly. "I don't know what I want, at this point."
"Hey hey, it's okay we all get confused.
Let's just talk it out. So what do you want to do? We have a paper here. We can write pros and cons for the both of them and--"
