After some bargaining we finally acquired something edible. Liam and I gobbled our kebabs with no care in the world.
A little trivia I learnt on the way is that every creature can be persuaded.
And werewolves can make for amateur chefs.
It did lack most spices that fit my palate, but was definitely an upgrade over an apple and protein bars that tasted like sand and crumbled to pieces the moment you open them.
Also Liam cannot tolerate spice.
As soon as we were done, buzzcut went to get us seconds. I glanced around to see Grant and Amelia absolutely destroying the kebabs without even cooling them first.
Yumiko conversed with another woman who spoke excitedly about their life as werewolves.
Members of the pack strolled casually eating and playing around. Occasionally giving me strange looks. It looked peaceful. A word I'd removed from my dictionary.
A sudden thought creeped up my mind. What if we had teensy bit of fun on Leopard-print's expense?
The only person I could confide in without looking suspicious was Liam. This was a great way of showing him that I trust him with my thoughts. Except I was really apprehensive of his reaction. Would he encourage me like a supportive friend or moral police me?
I wasn't ready for the latter.
"Listen, what if we . . ." I told him my objective.
He lend me his ears. Once I was done, he turned to me with a stern expression and said, "Perfect. Let's do it."
Liam and I stood in the centre of the loosely formed circle of foodies. He cleared his throat and announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen--"
"And wolves." I added.
The werewolves stopped eating at watched the two of us curiously. Amelia, Grant and Yumiko wore surprised expressions.
He acknowledged and continued "Let's play a game of Truth and Dare!"
"AWOOO!" The pack members cheered simultaneously.
"What's a truth and dare ?" The woman previously talking to Yumiko asked.
"Why'd you cheer then?" I was amused at the show of enthusiasm without context.
"He said play and I like to play."
"Fair enough."
Liam explained the rules to the wolves who had abandoned their plates. With their attention on him, Grant sneaked next to me and asked, "What are you both planning? Are you trying to extract information from them?"
No one would divulge their life's most guarded secret at a campfire party. Too many ears will hinder the process of extraction.
"Just wanted to have fun. A little payback to a certain someone." I scanned my prey, who was now talking someone else's ears off.
"Oh that dude. Yeah. Go for it." He patted my back and went back to his place.
