"You gotta be kidding me." I said in disbelief. Anyone who's listening to knuckleheads' ideas, have lost it already, or are on the verge of it.

Team didn't say anything. They waited for Dora and me to reach to a conclusion.
"I mean, we don't really know where to go. Splitting can let us cover more area." Dora justified his foolishness.

"You people haven't watched horror movies and it shows. Splitting up here is like a murder waiting to happen." I frowned. A few hums of agreement came from Team.
"He's got a point ya know. How do we communicate if something happened?" Grant backed me up.

"Hmm. Since you humans cannot follow scents, Hex and I will split up. Some of you come with me, rest of you go with him." Dora explained.

Amelia grabbed Grant and Liam and stood beside Dora.
I turn to face my nightmare.
"OH HELL NAH." I throw my hands in exasperation. "Not him. Not again."
Yumiko and others chortled at my reaction, but it was no laughing matter for me.

One more second with this turd and I would combust on spot.

I glared at Amelia for sorting people according to her will.

"Amy, I think we should discuss this once before deciding." Grant eased himself out of her grasp.

"I don't mind accompanying Deccan." Yumiko offered. "Me too." Liam switched sides.

"This is bad. We shouldn't be asked to choose sides. This is one group and we will stick together." I shook my head. This will create nothing but a rift between ourselves.

"Exactly. We just found each other. We're lucky Deccan fell with Liam . . . imagine if he hadn't." Grant shuddered.

"Then it's decided. We will stick together." I gave a firm nod to Dora. She shrugged, as though she didn't really care of either outcomes.

"For now, we need to gather food. It's been more than twelve hours since I ate anything at all." Yumiko declared.
"Those who wanna hunt, come with me. Rest stay here." Dora took off. Grant placed a hand on my shoulder and said, "I'll be back. Take care of them."

His words suddenly made me feel like a responsible parent of three kids. I gave a nod of resolute. Amelia accompanied them and they headed away.

"You're not joining them?" I raised an eyebrow at the genius who suggested splitting up in the first place.
"No I changed my mind. Besides who's gonna protect this weak set of people if I leave?" He said smugly.

"I will." Yumiko challenged him.

 I'm so proud of her.

"You  will? Ha. This is why I need to stay behind." He made a show of flexing his muscles.

I have like a hundred good comebacks to shut his arrogant ass up. Even a good punch would do. But this is Yumiko's moment. I'm not gonna steal her spotlight.

I could see Yumiko clenching her fists. I went and sat beside Liam on one of the rocks.
"Got any popcorn? Cause the show's 'bout to start." He chuckled. It seems like we both had the same thought.

Yumiko stands before him, in the most confident stance I have seen from her. "And what makes you think I need saving? If anything, we need protecting from you. You are like the zit that never fades."

"OHHH. " Liam and I cheer for her from the stands. And it seemed to boost her esteem.
"Hey mind your language girly or else--" His face contorted the way it did while chasing me through the forest.

"Or else what? Gonna cry to your mommy?" She shredded his remaining dignity. Not that he had any, to begin with.

"You're so going to regret this." He took a menacing step towards her.
And this is where I had to intervene.
