Yumiko's POV
I was elated on receiving a bow and an arrow. I didn't really have any experience in archery, except for the martial arts classes I had as a teenager.
Deccan joked about getting a cutlery from his piece, but I'm sure he would find a way to use the spoon or the fork he got. Instead he got a austere yet powerful sword. It suited him.
Liam got on his knees and begged Deccan for an exchange, I saw the hesitation in his eyes but he gave it to Liam nonetheless. Liam's fumbled and dropped the sword blade first, with a loud clang. Deccan let out a feminine scream when his sword fell.
We stepped back in shock. I got a little tensed, because we just made him upset a while ago. I made him upset a while ago. I couldn't understand why he snapped at me, when I was just trying to help him out. His face had turned pale when Hellga had ordered for the tooth of the creature and I thought it would be for the best if I could volunteer because I was the only other person after him to have seen it.
His words rung in my mind 'Because if you jump, I jump'.
What did he mean by that?
I don't usually overthink but I couldn't help but wonder he said it specifically for the river situation or in general. Would he really jump for me in the face of danger?
Of course he would. He would do it for any of his friends. He was gave up his shirt for his bleeding friend and stayed naked even when the cold winds hit us. He scarred his back again and again for his group. He would definitely put his friends before himself.
I don't know what his thought process was, but after we had a little blow-out in front of everyone, he hasn't really spoken to me.
Apart from the polite clapping he did when I struck the pose with my bow, we haven't talked like we used to. And it's my partially fault.
I was hoping to get some alone time to clear the misunderstanding between us. But with the ever present audience we have, it might be a little hard to find him alone.
Alone when he's not busy pulling Hex's leg.
Alone when he's not gossiping with Liam. I did see them playfully shoving each other off the rock outside the temple, it's nice to see everyone get along well.
Another thing we concluded was that we couldn't lift each other's weapons. Liam enquired about it to the sorceress but Dora drawled on about how long we took to understand it. She and Hex sat listlessly on the sides observing us play around with our new discoveries.
"Ye chose it. Now tis' yers fer eternity." Hellga informed.
"Oh I got it, I got it. So all these are like Thor's hammer, except it's not a hammer neither is it Thor's." Deccan lifted his sword with ease and skimmed the blade edge with his thumb.
"Somehow that makes sense." Rest of them agreed.
"Okay, the Bow and Arrow, Grant's thing and the Sword are going to function like a the weapon they are and that's understood. What about us? You want me to throw the bead at the enemy?" Amelia got to the point.
"Hol yer hand forward." Hellga instructed. Amelia did as she was told.
With the flick of her wrist an empty container flew right at Amelia and she shrieked.
A faint white bubble formed around her and the container harmlessly shattered against the it.
"That's so cool." Deccan whispered.
"So it's like an shield against anything. You can open your eyes now Amy." Grant nudged her.
"And this telescope thing does . . . ?" Liam asked.
"Ye hav to figure it out yerself when thee toime comes."
