"One of you?" I sputtered, my face twisting into noticeable confusion.

"Woah back up lady." Grant narrowed his eyes with hostility. "Why did you have to smell him to realized we're not one of you ?"

"Talk to my Alpha respectfully!" A weirdo in leopard print pants and short needle hair, growled.

"Alpha?  Are you role-playing your fantasies out in the open? " Grant snickered and elbowed me.

Except for Grant and me,  no one found it funny.

"Ugh, I know what these are. Never thought I'd see one.  Lock 'em up boys." She drawled and walked away like things were normal.

"The hell  you mean by locking up?!" Amelia protested. Before I could explain to her what being locked up meant, burly and mean looking men twice our size grabbed our arms and dragged us into a hidden cave behind the bonfire.

Which is weird because I didn't know jail is one of the pre-requisites for a family bonfire.

We were hastily pushed into random subsections of the cave that barely passed for a cell. Everyone were paired and put together while I single-celled.

Luckily they were locked up opposite to mine. Our jail doors were made from bamboo shoots and spare wood, so it wasn't as threatening. They locked us up as it is, without frisking for weapons.

I don't know whether to be happy or get offended because viewed us as threatening as a sack of potatoes.

Seeing no way out, I sat on the cold stone ground with my back against the wall and pulled my leg close to my chest resting an arm on the knee.

After double locking every possible door the jailers left us.

"Maybe I should have introduced us after all." Liam looked at me condescendingly.

Oh I am so not in the mood for this.

"Liam stop!" Yumiko scolded.

"You're lucky we're not in the same cell right now." I shot him a steely gaze.

Silence prevailed once again with everyone gawking at my threat. I grimaced as soon as I muttered the last word. Liam looked taken aback.

Shouldn't have said that.

"Fine. I apologise." I rubbed my face in irritation.

I don't know what these people expect of me, but it is tiring to pretend someone I'm not.

"Liam you should really watch your mouth." Yumiko glared at him through the cell.

" We have enough problems for one lifetime. Nobody is going to help us here. If any of you want to go back to our world, fighting each other is certainly not the way!"

Seeing her distressed, Amelia moved closer and pulled her into a comforting hug.

She's right as always. We need to stick together. There are some who want to return home.
