I squinted hard in the dark, trying to find my watch that I previously kept on the night stand. But my hands uselessly groped the empty surface of the table.

We have watch thieves now?

I sighed deeply and sat up straight in my bed. My chest and the back of my neck was clammy with sweat. Huh? I looked up at the ceiling and saw the fan spin at full speed. Now that I'm awake, might as well do an obligatory washroom visit.

I stepped out of washroom and while closing the door behind me, I viewed a sort of dim light washing the floor near my feet. I followed it to find it emanating from within my backpack.

Great. Now I have an LED in my bag.

I walked to check the 'light' in question.

Of course. It's Miss Serah's  Magic 8 ball. Maybe I was right all along. Shits' cursed.

I slowly lowered my hand into my bag, afraid of upsetting Mr. Glowy. I cupped the ball in my palms peering into the changing patterns. The ball felt alive, because it made new patterns wherever my fingers touched.

Was vodka served during the dinner? Maybe they should have. At least I would have had someone to blame.

Few more seconds passed while I was inspecting the ball, when I felt a searing hot pain shoot up my arm.

"What the-  " I dropped the ball and stepped behind cradling my hand. Mr. Glowy now seemed to have legs of his own. The speed with which he rolled away on the wooden floor made me whip my head around for an impending sock attack.

Thankfully Kelvin's blanket rose and fell steadily, indicating his slumber. As if to confirm, I heard a unattractive snore escape his lips. Diverting my attention back to Magic 8. The luminosity emanating the Ball now increased more than ever. I ran to pick it up, when the light blinded me and possibly, engulfed me.

My cranium throbbed as though ten horses saw a Black Friday sale and my head was in their way.

Wow. Even my eye hurts. That freaky ball must have been swapped with a MS18. Which if you don't know, is a powerful flashlight. Like 100,000 lumens bright. For reference sake, an iPhone at maximum brightness is only up to 50 lumens.

So yeah.

My eye should've been charred to dust, but Miss Serah probably liked me a little. The woozy feeling gradually reduces, giving me my ability of sight back.

I was on the floor with my face inhaling the dirt. I glance around my room to see if certain pair of socks had anything to do with my head ache. To my surprise, the room looked a little different. Instead of 2 beds and a night stand, now there's-

 Nothing?

Hold up.

Panic started to settle in my stomach. Our room back at the inn was cozy with thick curtains draped over the window, filtering out most of the sunlight. This, had no curtains at all.  In fact it was empty. Only thing present in the room accompanying me was an old fashioned rug which was slightly comforting. Honestly, I could sit and admire this rug all day if I hadn't lost my way in my room.
Oh no. Mr. Glowy had managed to follow me.

At least Miss Serah had been thoughtful enough to send me a chaperone. I got up, dusted myself and saw a pale, off-white door at one corner of the room, as I started walking towards the door, I felt  something pulling me from behind. I turned around to see which pair of invisible hands held me. My chaperone sat in the middle of the room, patiently waiting for me to come pick him up.

I consoled myself by thinking of an opportunity when I'll get to drop Mr. Glowy off a high-rise building. Until I find a suitable building, I must carry him.

With a pinch of resentment, I picked him up and headed back towards the door. For how old the door looked, it didn't creak. My room was situated on the second floor and the was only one in that floor, which I was grateful for.

Last thing I needed was unlimited supply of rooms for Annabelle  and her crew to stay in.
Few paces ahead was a rustic wooden staircase, which almost gave this  place a winter cabin feel. I cautiously stepped on each stair to avoid disturbing the inhabitants and subconsciously held Glowy closer to my chest. When I ascended the last stair, I peeked from one of the corners to check out the living room.

The living room had a coffee shade, long vinyl textured sofa with the yellow throw pillows placed haphazardly. This was enough to suggest that someone was here before me. In front of the sofa, lay a beautiful maroon console table with some food on it.

Food.

All my fears and apprehension was immediately forgotten as I went towards the food. To my dismay, there just lay an empty cover that read 'Salted chips' and a crushed can. Beside it were some untouched fruits. Just bananas mostly.

Even during potential abduction people go  fruit shopping.

I stood still for a whole minute, making sure the owner wasn't back yet. Then I plopped down on the fluffiest part of the sofa and grabbed the biggest banana kept there. Propping my legs on the table, I relaxed my head on the headrest  and peeled the fruit.

Once I was done, I had to discard the peel somewhere. So I strolled a little in the living room until I realized that someone was talking. More specifically, some people were talking.
Before I could decide to investigate or flee, the voices drew closer, and closer. I frantically looked around for a place to hide.

But it was too late. I froze in fear as I saw four people staring back at me in shock.
