We followed Deccan inside and saw Anarzia run up to him and whisper urgently. He looked alarmed and pulled her away, rushing towards one of the corridors.

"What is she up to now?" I huffed.

Grant and Liam shared glance. Both the men squeezed my shoulder, held my wrist and guided me away.

"It's nothing Yumiko." Grant said softly. "Don't think too much--"

"Grant." Liam gestured gazing at Ciaran and Amelia giggling by one of the tables full of herbs.

"Ain't he a lovely teacher?" Grant glared at the minister.  Liam and I laughed at the evergreen hypocrisy.

With Ciaran's slender back turned on us, I waved at Amelia to get her attention. She noticed me almost immediately and discreetly bulged her eyes, indicating that the message was received.

She playfully touched his arm and nodded, ending the conversation. She briskly walked to us with Ciaran smiling after her.

"Hey what'd I miss?" She grinned.

"That elf is all over you isn't he?" Liam chuckled.

"He was just praising my herb identification skills." Amelia said bashfully.

"Whatever. I also appreciate you all the time." Grant rolled his eyes.

"Yeah you do." Amelia punched his arm good naturedly. "Where's my boy Deccan?"

All eyes turned on me. "Princess took him." I pointed at the hallway.

"What for? Doesn't matter. Let's spy on them." Amelia smiled evilly.

"Are you sure ? What if they catch us-- Deccan isn't the type to be fooled easily." Liam stroked his chin.

"It's not nice to invade our friend's privacy." Grant said quietly.

"Oh come on!" Amelia pulled all of us to the direction of the hallway, pressing our back against the wall.

From behind the wall, I heard someone sniffling with another voice comfort it.

"See this." Amelia pulled me in front of her making me peek.

Anarzia had buried her face in Deccan's chest with him softly patting her.

"We should leave--" Amelia pressed a hand over Grant's mouth but it was too late.

Deccan whipped his head in our direction and narrowed his eyes at me. He shook his head tiredly and whispered something to her. She jumped away from him and looked at us through glazed eyes.

"God forbid we'd ever be sent to spy together." Liam side eyed us.

Deccan stepped away from Anarzia  and glared at me waiting for an explanation.

"So umm you caught us." Amelia laughed awkwardly. "What's going on though?"

"It's okay, I'll tell them." Anarzia tried squeezing his hand but he shoved it in his pockets.

"My father-- King Glorian has fallen terribly ill." She took a deep breath. "They're running tests on him but the source of the illness is termed inconclusive."

"We're so sorry!" I said sincerely. We rushed to her side and made an attempt at consoling her.

"Are we the second ones, after the family to know of this?" Grant asked.
