Flashback

The Mikaelson's had been far to kind and willing to aid the Salvatore in her time of distress, to the point where their kindness bordered on over-compensation, or deception. Although having been with them over a year, suspicion had been woven into her being. Her mistrusting nature dangled her over the edge in the midst of any conversation, forcing her to plan an escape that never needed to be executed.

Kol had been taken by her instantly due to her magical abnormality, but Klaus was completely enamoured by the girl. The manner in which she walked, how skilfully she could carry herself through a conversation.

She was head-strong and never backed down, and he contemplated if perhaps her challenging disposition drew him in. But through searching for a root cause, the one thing he couldn't ignore was his indescribable need to be around her.

Klaus'  forwardness and sly, flirtatious comments never ceased to make Luna flustered and scramble to regain the unnerved façade she plastered in his presence. However she could never utter these feelings aloud and kept them safely stored in the comfort of her thoughts.

The Salvatore was comfortably situated in the corner of the room, sprawled out on a chair facing a wide window. The clouds unveiled a stream of sunlight, the beams burning her eyes and forcing her from her thoughts.

She stared down at the book she was supposed to be reading, trying to find the last line she read before drifting off, only to be cut off by a quick knock on the door.

"Come in!" She called out absently, still skimming over the pages before her. She turned to see who was closing the door behind them. Klaus stepped in, sporting his regular smug grin and Luna couldn't help but reciprocate it, "Did you just come in to stare at me or are you going to say something?" Luna asked carefully, closing the book without bothering to take note of the page.

He couldn't help laughing at her words, before somewhat straightening his expression and clasping his hands behind his back, "I like you. You know this." He spoke hastily and breaking eye contact with her didn't occur to him. He listened carefully to the rhythm of her heart and watched the subtle twitches of the muscles in her face as she prepared an answer.

It didn't occur to him either that Luna would stand up and make her way towards him cautiously. She took a deep breath once they were face to face, inches separating them, "I don't trust you. You know this." She smiled weakly, but a teasing glint flashed in her eyes.

His smiled dropped and jaw clenched momentarily before he laughed, "I suppose... I'll have to gain your trust somehow."

"And how, exactly, do you plan on doing that?" She shot back, her brows slightly raised as amusement and excitement ran through her. She folded her arms over her chest and cocked her head to the side.
