"It was their mother Esther who was sealed in the coffin," Elena explained to the three Salvatore's standing in front of her.
"As in the Original Witch?" Stefan questioned.
"What? How is she even alive? I thought her hybrid freakshow of a son ripped her heart out a thousand years ago." Damon added.
"She's a witch, a powerful one. She would've figured something out." Luna chimed in, making an on-edge Elena nod in response. She was still anxious because of the Gilbert's main role in daggering Rebekah, and the friendship between the pair was not a mystery to anyone.
"Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family. Including Klaus.." Elena said, trailing off.
"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill him." Stefan stated bitterly.
"Well, not anymore. At least, not according to Elijah." Elena said.
"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds." Stefan said with a frustrated sigh.
"Anyone else feeling a little used right now?" Damon added, almost mockingly, making Luna send him a warning look.
"Look, Elijah promised that his family wouldn't hurt any of us." Elena assured them making Luna scoff.
"I don't believe that." Luna said, making Elena look at her in confusion.
"Why not?" Elena asked hesitantly.
"Because, they're Originals. They are ruthless and I can promise you they don't care about what you or Elijah say." Luna informed her. Before anyone could respond, the doorbell rang. Elena sighed and went to answer the door.
When Luna looked over and saw that no one was there, she went to Elena and asked, "Is that an invitation to the Mikaelson Ball?"
Elena jumped slightly before speaking quietly, "I don't know."
Damon and Stefan followed after Luna, "What is it?" Damon asked.
Elena opened the envelope and turned to Luna, "It's an invitation," She confirmed, "Did you get one of these?"
