"only know you love her when you let her go"

Flashbacks

Stinging pain rattled across her body, blood trickling down her stomach and across her dress. She barely wanted to open her eyes, but she knew she had to pry them open and she wished she hadn't. The scene unfolding before her was theatrical, and gruesome, and could only be accomplished by one person.

Her breathing grew more erratic, noticing she was now apart of the show set up by Mikael. To her left, Marcel had been strung up on the stage in the same matter she was, only he was unconscious and through the visage of chaos she couldn't decipher if he was alive or not. Her initial thought was to use her magic, her one advantage. But the stakes imbedded in her hands and stomach rendered her useless.

After she ran away, she was lonely without her brothers. It was as if she lost a piece of herself without them. They weren't only her family but her best friends. And Marcel filled that hole.

With that thought in her mind, she was determined to get out. No matter how weak she felt, she was strengthened when she thought about the people who became the family she longed for.

She tried to fight the pain across her body as release herself from the stakes pinning her down, but it was no use. She breathed deeply, her sights remaining on Marcel before skewering her eyes shut and forcing herself to concentrate. She searched for a sliver of strength within her to release herself, or Marcel, but a commotion around her broke it quickly.

She watched as Nik rushed to Marcel's aid, wrapping his hands around one of the stakes in his stomach, pulling it out quickly. Her chest rose and dropped as he fumbled to take each one out of Marcel's abdomen, but Mikael had stepped in quickly, pushing him aside. Rebekah advanced towards Luna, her hand being stabbed by her father, stopping her in her tracks.

Rebekah was pushed aside and fell to the floor, Luna watched as Mikael fed from Marcel viciously, and Luna feared she was next. Her ears picked up Elijah convincing Klaus to leave. Her head perked up and her eyes searched to meet Nik's through the commotion and pain.

Luna connected eyes with her husband, silently begging him not to leave. She knew it might make her selfish, but she didn't want to die here and now. Luna knew what Mikael was like, based off what she'd been told, and how he was a danger to all of the Originals but she didn't want to die. Not like this.

Her eyes finally met his and silently pleaded with him, begging him not to leave her. She was afraid to die, she was afraid to be left alone to face an agonising death. She could hear his heart racing and watched his down turned eyes and trembling lip, she watched Elijah holding Rebekah in his arms, urging his brother to leave.

She felt a wave of sadness and betrayal hit her when Klaus' expression changed. It went from miserable and hesitant, to cold and emotionless in less than a second. And she gaped at the space where the three Originals once stood and felt her eyes stinging.
