Theo and I look at each other confused. We watch Xylia walk with that weird lady to the gate.
"She's letting her go." Theo says.
"Shit, should we run after her?" I ask, but when that weird lady pushes Xylia out we can no longer see her. It's like she disappeared when she made it to the other side. We watch the lady lock the gate and start walking back towards us. Through the gap I can only just see Xylia's' legs. There are another pair of legs with her. She stands there for a few seconds with the other person then walks away with them.
"Do you think she's going to go get help?" I ask Theo, but I realise he's left me from behind the stairs and is making his way up the steps. "What the hell, Theo."
"Don't you see it?" He asks. "There's jacket on the stairs, it has my name on the front." I couldn't see what he was seeing, but he reaches down and picks something up.
"What are you doing here?" The lady asks. I try and move out from behind the stairs but a part of me won't move. She says something to him then leads Theo to the gate. My legs won't move. She opens the gate and pushes him out. There is nothing I can do. I just as watch the lady locks the gate once again. Theo's legs visible for only a few second beyond the gap before he leaves in the opposite direction to Xylia.
"They went to find help." I tell myself, but I don't even believe me. I am alone. "they went to find help." My head says again. I'm always forgotten. This shit could only happen to me. I can't remember much, I doubt whether I make it out or not is one of his biggest concerns. It's something.... not even this frickin' camp couldn't even erase.
I look back to the hell hole I will be trapped in and spacing doesn't seem so bad now. He sent me here to get rid of me anyway. Four days he was promised a sanctuary apart from me, but ended up losing me forever.
"Things were different here." My head says. Even with all the shit that happened? "It was another life." It tells me. How many lives do you get? Xylia always spoke about another life. In that in life, he could have been proud of me. Someone would have wanted me out. They would have let me out. "Maybe this is all for the best." I hear Xylia say. I know she would never leave me, but maybe she is right. If I could change my fate, I would still write it the way has been already written; only this time, I could learn something. I could become better. I could be like Xylia and Theo.
"They are coming back." This thought causing me to release a bitter laugh. This thought causing tears to rise. In the end will I just become a motive for them to come back?
I take another look at the stairs to the white building. On the stairs there is a dark green and maroon coloured duffel bag. I take a quick scan to check if the lady from before is getting close, but she's nowhere to be seen.
For some weird reason I feel drawn to it. The bag seems familiar. Forgetting my fears, I walk up the steps and lift the bag. My hand hovers over the zip not sure of whether I should open the bag. Then, a firm hand rests itself on my shoulder.
"What are you doing here?" I hear her ask.
