"I don't think we should be here again!" Willjay yells. I rub my arms and let out a deep breath watching a white cloud spiral outward. It's hard to see the sign from here even with the headlights because he parked so far away. I don't know what he is afraid of, he's not even effected. He can't hear that stupid sound, feel it in his chest.
"Your fine, don't be such a downer Willjay!" I tell him leaning back on the door of his car beside him.
"I'm fine but you aren't, I know I'm probably the last person who should be saying this, but don't do anything stupid!"
"I can't, you parked so far out!" I yell. "Why do you think I brought you here with me, you can pull me out!"
"And what happens if you don't wake up, what happens if you... 'space' or something?!" He asks. "Man, your brother is going to kill me!"
"I just feel like I'm missing something, I just need to see more. You don't know what it was like growing up in that shit hole, never knowing if you'll wake up the next morning, never knowing if you'll get out. I could have been next at any second and I would spend all day thinking about it!" I tell him. "What....what scared me the most was I would be the last!" I don't even know why I am telling him this in the first.
"How do you think it made me feel the first time? I thought I would lose my best friend and.... I thought I would lose you... and it was my fault!" He moves from wear he was leaning and stands in front of me. "Can we just... go, you know, maybe we could catch a movie or something?!"
"Me and you watch a movie!?" I laugh.
"Yeah it could be fun Pelé, I'll buy!" He smiles. I had to admit his smile was growing on me. I'm kind of glad that he came. I watch his mouth move but I can't hear anything he says.
"What?!" I ask. He moves in closer and wraps his finger around a belt loop of my jeans near my hip. His olive skin glows in the dull light.
"I'm serious, I'm.... infatuated by you Harper Price." His hazel eyes meet mine.
"Do you even know the meaning of the word Jones?" I laugh shoving him back. He chuckles lightly dramatically faking falling to the ground and looks up at me. "We should get back!" I tell him but he doesn't move. He just smiles and looks up at the dark sky.
