I don't know what to say to her. She lost her best friend and I don't know what to say.
"I..."
"You don't need to." She says before I can say anything. I look up at her, she isn't looking at me. I lift her chin and turn her to face me. Blue seeps in the dark honey like consistency of her eyes.
"Lia, your eyes are... changing colour." I tell her.
"Just side effects." She says.
"Side effects of what?" I ask her, "Lia why were you at camp before?"
"I was just thinking." She says. I don't think her eye colour is the only thing changing.
"You could have told someone, look what happened to..." I stop myself. "I'm sorry." I tell her, dropping my hand from her chin. We fall silent. I must be doing something wrong here. Coby and Theo would have talked their way to her. I guess Willjay would have too in his own way. I never thought he would be emotionally and mentally unstable.
I stand and stand her up with me taking her hand. I being to walk back to my car, but she doesn't move, the tension between our extended arms between us, her head turned towards the road.
"What's on your mind?" I ask her.
"Nothing."
"Then why are we still here?" I ask.
"You ask too many questions Jessie." She tells me.
"I'm starting to see I don't ask enough Xylia."
