Chapter 8: Follow Your Heart

Carlos's POV

"Evan... I mean Buck"

Carlos didn't think that Eddie has company at this hour. Then again, Buck is Eddie's best friend so yeah. He asks if Eddie is awake and Buck nodded and lets him inside.

He hands him the towel that he uses earlier to dry himself and sits down. Compare to Buck and Carlos, Buck walks a long way from his car to Eddie's house so he is wetter than Carlos. 

As Carlos dries himself, the person that he was looking for came out of the room holding a blanket with his uninjured hand. Eddie got a bit surprised when he saw him. Clearly wasn't expecting more than one company.

The three sit down and Eddie past the blanket to Buck, and he gave his old one to Carlos. NOw the 3 became silent not even sure what or who should ask the question. 

Eddie's POV

He can sense that both of his friends didn't come here just because of the rain. He looks at Buck and he can tell he isn't his usual self, from working with him he knows when his best friend is angry, sad, worried. But with Carlos, he can't seem to sense anything as they usually just chat not really a face-to-face conversation. He made a noise to grab both Buck and Carlos's attention.

"Now I don't want to ask you this directly as you might be struggling from something but since none of you are telling me what's going on I had to ask." Eddie feels that kinda bad that he had to ask, but that's the only way for these two-man to open up to him.

Buck said that Oliver is in a bad situation, he told him that even if the surgery went okay they are still not sure if he will wake up or not, he also mentioned that he wanted to stay with Maddie but she said that he should rest as has been waiting at the hospital for almost a whole day, she will watch him and calls him for any update about Oliver. Eddie now understands why Buck visited him at this hour.

After Buck finish, Carlos said that he just wanted to visit Eddie to see if he has company but it seems he does, so he said goodbye but Eddie didn't let him leave he grabs Carlos's arms and told him to stay, please. Eddie might have sound despite but for some reason he also wants Carlos to be by his side and help Buck coop with his problem. He smiled and agreed to his request. This made Eddie's heart melt as he felt a spar hit his heart when he saw Carlos's smile.

Eddie decided to grab a few beers from the fridge while Carlos help set up the table. Eddie thought that watching a movie would clear Buck's mind from his worries. True what he's going through is not easy, but he is his friend and he will do anything to help him. The TV is set and Carlos browses on the movie selection while Buck fixes the couch. 

As he checks for more chips Carlos said that in all of Eddie's movies Buck watches it all and asks for something more different. Eddie asks what does he have in mind? He mentioned that he has a movie that he has been dying to see but never had the time to actually watch it. He asks what is it about. He told him that it's about 2 men going on a journey and finding something special. He quietly mentioned that it's a queer movie. This made Eddie curious but at the same time worried, what if Buck doesn't want to watch the movie, or maybe he gets weird by it? He asks him if Buck agrees and said that he never watched a queer movie before and might finally have more insight about his friend but he didn't tell him who is that friend of his though

He already knows that Carlos is gay because he told them when they were at the bar. But he is still in the dark about Eddie's sexuality. He never really know what's the difference between a man-woman and a man-man relationship? or is there even a difference besides the obvious? So this film might give him insight.

The two walks back to the living room holding beers and snack for them to enjoy. Buck asks if Eddie is okay with it and he nodded but still has a bit of doubt about it. The boys sit down on the couch (Buck, Eddie, Carlos in order). Buck and Eddie quickly opened their beers while Carlos set up the Movie titled The Man with the answers.

Author's Note.

I just want to say that the movie The Man With The Answers is a real queer movie that isn't sad. I watch it and it's actually a great film so if you have time to kill it I highly recommend you watch it.

They sat down and watch. The first few minutes they didn't fully understand what the two were saying because it's another language but after a while, they started speaking English. They really thought that they were going to watch a movie that they couldn't understand which will have ruined the night.

The trio watches, Eddie and Buck took by surprise when the characters finally kiss for the first time. Eddie looks at Buck's reaction and he shows no affection of anger or disgust just curiosity and enjoyment, which made Eddie glad.

It's now 2 AM in the morning and Buck and Carlos have drunk quite a lot. The movie is about to be finished in a minute or two. Buck is already asleep on his pillow in a not-so-comfortable way. Eddie looks the other way and sees Carlos sleeping as well laying his head on the couch. He felt the same spark again when he watches him. He isn't sure what he is feeling but he knows it's nothing new.

He suddenly cut out of his thoughts when he felt a sudden force, something or someone laying on his shoulder... It was Carlos still asleep. He didn't want to move because he might wake up. The movie is done so he turns off the TV with the remote and lays his head on Carlos' making himself comfortable. Of course, still making sure that the other man would not hit his injured arm.

The trio is now asleep.

6 AM, Morning...

Buck's POV

They are quietly sleeping when unexpectedly a phone rings which interrupted that. Buck woke up and checks where he has put his phone down. After a few seconds of checking the bags of chips, he found his phone and saw it's Maddie. He gets up and answered as soon as he stands up.

"Buck are you awake?" Maddie asks kinda quietly.

"Yes Maddie, did something happen? How is Oliver?" Buck quickly asks not even hesitating.

Buck waits for Maddie's response. He wishes that everything is alright and Oliver's surgery went well. Maddie probably laughing or crying when she said that Oliver pulled through. Buck is now a bit of relief as his brother's operation went well. He grabs his wallet and saw the two still not awake. He then notices that both Carlos and Eddie are laying their heads on one another kinda romantic. Buck smiled looking at the two being adorable sleeping together. He grabs a pen and paper leaving a note that he leaves something that came up and he is thankful for them helping him feel better. He also promises that he will treat them something once he is back.

He leaves the pen and paper and uses his phone to get an Uber.

Carlos's POV

He woke up and suddenly felt the adrenaline pump when he realizes he is laying his head on Eddie's shoulder. He also accidentally move his injured arm a bit waking Eddie with a not-so-good morning.  Eddie felt the pain judging from his face and he quickly apologizes. Stating that he didn't want to wake or hurt his arm. Eddie nodded as he knows it was an accident and quickly say it's alright

"Good morning," Eddie said as the sun shines through his face

Carlos kinda blush as they are close to each other. He saw his handsome face and hazel color eyes.

He moves a bit and says good morning as well. The two blush and smile yet again. But someone from the back also said good morning and it's Christopher.

He asks if they watch a movie without him. Eddie is sorry for not inviting his son but he also mentioned that it is late and he needs to be at school early as tomorrow he will be camping with his classmate for a few days. Christopher smile and have his father a hug trying not to injure his arm, saying thank you for agreeing to let him come to the camping trip.

Carla then looks at Eddie with a smile as she and Christopher walk on the door.

Eddie's POV

Carla lipsync saying "Follow your heart" which made Eddie smile. He knows that something is forming inside his body. Something really great and special... And with that, it's just him and Carlos alone.
