Chapter 4: Vulnerable

-Eddie's POV-

He was woken up by his alarm which he uses to love but now really hate. He doesn't want to go to work today but what excuse does he have? 'Sorry, Bobby I'm not feeling okay today and probably forever because Buck rejected me but still wants to be friends with him' He buried his head into the pillow wishing he just could change everything, remove feelings that never should have been there in the first place.

He decided to get up and face this head-on. He looks at his phone and saw Carlos's name. He was thankful that yes things could be different now that Buck understands but his new friend Carlos who he just met feels also close to him. With all his strength he showered, Eat breakfast with Carla and Christopher, drives to the station and the strength suddenly fades when he saw Buck.

He remembers everything that unfolds last night. The emotions resonating again inside him. But suddenly got turn to ashes when he saw him with his girlfriend. Looks like they made up. Good for them. He just ignored this and moved forward not even daring to look him in the eyes and just go straight upstairs.

"Eddie, you are late, you're never late," Bobby said looking at the man sitting on the couch giving a different vibe than usual. The captain asks if he is alright and he nodded and grabs his phone.

Buck walks upstairs to give everyone a muffin that Taylor bought as an apology for leaving him yesterday. He asks all of them and they all took one except Eddie, he declared that he isn't hungry.

He knows that his friend is going to need some space after what just happened yesterday. He knows that it's not his fault but he wishes he could help his best friend out. But he knows trying to help solve the issue that's obviously him is not the best idea.

He moves carried along and asks the others downstairs if they want one. Eddie is thankful he has an understanding friend. Which he hates. He wanted to be angry at him because of his feeling but it's also why he loves him.

He can't think straight with everything going on his mind, he needed to get his mind off him and do anything that will preoccupy him. He decided to shot Carlos a message. He knows that he might be busy but he's his only hope at diverting everything.

Eddie asks if he was busy... No reply. He waited for more minutes and texted him another yet saying "if you are bust that's cool" still nothing After sending him 5 texts he concludes that the man is busy. He can't blame him anyway the guy is a cop who also has a shift plus they were chatting for a really long time last night so he must still be exhausted.

He places his phone on the counter and heads to the fridge only to be stopped by his captain, he seems curious about what he is going through. He treats his firehouse members as his family, as his children. He wants to know what's bothering him today, he also mentioned that he wasn't like this last night.

Eddie doesn't want to say to his captain who is standing in front of him asking for a response on Eddie's situation. Before he could open his mouth the bell rang and just like that they are off to work.

Eddie, Hen, Bobby, Buck, and Chim go to the firetruck and head to the location.

-Carlos's POV-

Well, it's a slow day right now. Carlos just doing some paperwork nothing major. What kills him, even more, is the fact that he left his phone at his apartment. He and Eddie were chatting for more than an hour which he did enjoy but because of that he woke up late and forgot his phone.

He wonders who would have called him by now. Tk? Judd? Some of his ex? Yes, some of his exes still chat with him which did not make it any less easy for him to move on. Forgetting all of them realizing that they didn't care about him really, all they cared about is the sex. He admits it's great but he wants someone who actually loves him, a person that cares for him, a person he could share his life with. None of that fits the description of all his previous exes.

After a long and exhausting hour of paperwork, he can finally go out for a while and maybe grab his phone from the apartment. He walks away from the desk only to be face to face with Sargent Athena herself. She asks if he is busy cause she needs him to patrol the area, he wanted to get his phone from his apartment but he didn't want to disappoint her so, he nodded. And just like that another obstacle to face before he can get his phone. 'I swear sometimes the universe hates me for some reason.'

-Eddie's POV-

They arrived, it seems that a traffic accident happens. Hen quickly aided the injured person, Bobby cutting to the car's exterior as a woman around her 30's is trapped in her car with minimal head injury while Chim and Buck ready to pull him out. As all of this is going on Eddie is still completely lost in everything happening around him. Why can't he focus on his work, he should be helping them. He quickly flinches when Buk called his name for the 4th time

"Eddie I need your help here," Buck said as he shows him the other car that crashes in the middle of the road. He proceeds to walk towards the place where he is needed.

-3rd Person's POV-

A mysterious woman holding a knife walking towards the cause of the crash. She seems to be filled with rage just by his eyes. He proceeds to move forward doesn't even bother to look at anywhere but the man who is stuck in the car.

As she continues a firefighter is helping the man and this made her blood boil even more with rage. 'How could he help him when he is the one that caused my mother's life' She didn't care she continued and reach her destination he started sprinting lifting her knife ready to strike the man.

-Eddie's POV-

As I head to Buck's location who is talking to the man stuck in his car, he notices something walking towards their location, a 5-foot woman, blonde hair and her clothes covered with blood. He gets a different vibe towards her. Then when she lifts her hand holding a knife sprinting towards Buck's location, he sprints in worry that her target is Buck. He yelled Buck's name which causes him to tilt his perspective from the injured man to him.

The woman was about to swing her knife at his best friend when he tackles her causing them to fall on the ground missing her target. Eddie looks at her and before he could even reach the girl grab the knife and stab Eddie's left arm twice she was about to hit him 3 times but Buck grabs the knife before that happened. He felt his body being slap by the woman as she yelled "He deserves to die!" Buck grabs her arms preventing her from hurting Eddie even more.

The police arrived

-Carlo's POV-

In the car, Athena driving while Carlos is in the passenger's seat. He hears the radio and asks for support on the car crash that's near the area. Athena steps foot on the gas and proceeds to the car crash. Once they arrived he can see few people injured on the ground while 6 cars crash into one another. He then saw the firetruck with the number 118 which made Carlos smile a little. True this situation isn't something you should be smiling about but something made him smile just seeing that 118.

His smile quickly turns to worried when he saw his friend being stab by a woman holding a knife pinned down. The two quickly heads towards their location and arrest the woman. Athena asks what happened while Carlos and Buck help Eddie stands up. Eddie smiled and ask Carlos why he didn't answer his chat. He replied that he left his phone at his apartment. He can't believe him, he just got stabbed twice, and still, he is asking me why I didn't answer his text.

They saw a black-fierce firefighter running towards them, he realizes it's Henrietta, one of Eddie's team members holding a bag probably filled with medical supplies. She looks at Eddie's bleeding left arm. the ambulance arrived and Eddie with the help of Buck and Carlos lay him on the gurney bed and Buck said that they will take it from here. and With that Carlos watch as the ambulance drives forward leaving him in the crash site.

He snaps back to reality when Athena called him and helps her with the psycho girl. He felt more relief that Eddie is okay, he just met him but the other man makes him really vulnerable. He wonders if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
