Chapter 1: The Invitation

Eddie's Point of View

As the firefighter, Eddie Diaz just finishes his shift and now ready to go back to his son, and was about to leave the premises when a friend of his called his name. He looks up to see his best friend Evan Buckley who goes by Buck, standing upstairs looking at him with a smile. He loves that about him.

He never admitted it to anyone but he has feelings for his best friend that why he broke up with his girlfriend Ana, He broke up with her because of two things... 1 is to save her from suffering more, better do it now while the feelings are still new and easy, and the other is so he can confess his feelings towards the other firefighter who is standing towards him. But when he got there it was too late... He found someone special a woman named Taylor, who is a reporter. He was happy for his best friend to find such a lucky girl but a part of him feels sadness as he could never say that he loves him.

"Eddie, me, Chim, Cap, and Hen are going to this newly open bar. The owner invited Bobby and said to bring company, I was wondering if you are coming with us?" The firefighter asks as he walks downstairs and said the rest in front of him. Eddie wonders if he should come... He knows that Carla is watching Christopher, which saves him the trouble of finding a sitter or anyone to watch him this late. Without thinking much he agreed as it would be disappointing if he was the only one not going. He said he is doing it for Bobby's sake but he knows it's because of his best friend.

Before he could go to his car Buck suddenly hold his left shoulder and told him to stop. He felt a spark just by a single touch of his hand. He slowly looks at his best friend and asks what's wrong. He states that he should go home and he will pick him up from his house. He nodded and waved goodbye to the other and drives to his home.

After a while, he arrived with Carla just leaving Christopher's room he assumes that she just put Christopher to sleep. Carla waves good evening to Eddie and he waves back. She asks if he is going anywhere from the way he is dress. He nodded and Carla raises a brow. "Are you going on a date, Edmundo?" She asks as she smiles widely. He states that he is only going out with a friend to the bar. She seems to differ but nodded anyway. He grabs his phone and charges it up while he waits for his ride.

Not long after, Eddie heard a sound of a car parking near his home, he knows it's Buck. He grabs his phone, wallet and went outside. When he looked at Buck he saw a van stopping and dropping a woman. It's Taylor. Why isn't he surprise of course he would bring him. He arrived in front of them and he hugs his girlfriend and kissed him on the mouth and I felt small jealousy. He heads to the back of the car only to be stopped by his best friend's hand holding his arm. Dang is he strong, and that grip.

"You are sitting in the front," Buck said and Taylor looks angry she asks why is she sitting at the back she is his girlfriend after all and she does have a point. He replied that yes she is his girlfriend but Eddie is his best friend and nothing is going to break that. Taylor gave up and sits at the back while I sit at the front. It felt kinda nice knowing that nothing really changes between them. They put on their seat belts and Buck starts the engine and drives.

The 3 were greeted by Buck and Eddie's co-workers along with the bar owner. He was thankful that they took his invitation. He then proceeds to ask us what beverages we would like to drink. Bobby and Buck are the only two who order a non-alcoholic drink as Buck is the driver and Bobby's excuse is know by many about his drinking problem.

It was really an enjoyable evening, Eddie and the rest of them were talking, drinking, the usual fun night out. When Eddie looks for Buck as Bobby needs to talk to him for a minute he spotted him at last, with Taylor. He notices his expression change from worried to understanding face. They then kiss and Taylor heads out. When I arrived, I ask why did Taylor leave? The other man replied "Something came up with her recent article and her boss wants to talk to her and it can't wait till morning" he nodded and told Buck that Bobby needs to talk to him for a minute and he proceeds to head to Bobby.

As Buck walks towards Bobby, Eddie still can't stop thinking of what would have happened if he confesses his feeling towards the man in from of him? What would be his reaction? Will, he still be his best friend if he did? Or will something bad would have happen if he did confess to him. All of this question eats him every time and he hates it more than anything. He should just be happy with what his best friend has after everything that happened to him but he still feels unsatisfied with the way this is played out, him being with the woman he loves, while I support him.

He decided to just drink his problems away. He kept looking at Buck for some reason as he sits in the corner with Hen and Chim. Look at him then to his drink, he kept doing this to get a glance while also trying his best not to be suspecious and is clearly failing it as Chim and Hen notice. They ask if they had a fight or something as Eddie can't keep his eyes away from Buck. He denied it and states that he is just looking around. Chim and Hen can tell it's not that but decided to not ask further.

Carlos's Point of View

The night seems so peaceful. Carlos in his pajamas watching anything that was on his TV to satisfy his boredom. He knew that TK and Judd will be at his apartment later as tomorrow Judd is going back to Austin Texas due to his wife and daughter. TK is a nurse who lives with his boyfriend David who Popstar. Their lives seem so much interesting than his. He wanted something that they have... Love someone to hugs you when you're cold, someone to hold you when you're down. A person that helps you become the best of you. But his relationship with others always ends with them leaving him which broke his heart or just a one-time thing.

His thoughts were cut when a sudden knock came out of the door. He stands up and walks towards the door. He looks and saw Judd and TK none of any beverages or foods they were supposed to bring. He lets them in and asks why they haven't brought anything to the movies. TK replied "well we aren't watching a movie... A friend of Judd invited us to his newly open bar. Judd said we should give it a try of course I'm not drinking any alcohol that's still a rule" He wanted to decline their offer but realize that being sad and lonely here in his quiet apartment isn't going to be fun either so he changes into something nice and joined them.

Carlos, TK, and Judd arrived at the bar. TK texted someone probably the friend he is talking about. The one who he met a few months ago. As TK walks blindly to the bar and then accidentally bumps into someone. When the man turns around to look at TK he quickly smiles and gave a hug to TK. Carlos felt relief as he didn't want any fighting or drama right now. He isn't depressed or anything, he just wants to get this over with.

"Tk you came I thought you weren't going to show." The taller man said. Tk then introduces Carlos and Judd to him and he greeted us with a smile. He told us his name Evan Buckley but prefers to be called Buck. After that, he asks us to have a sit as the drinks are on him. Judd just goes along with it as it's free beer. Tk notice that Carlos seems so much quieter than usual. Back when he was in Austin things were different. But he decided it'd best to not talk about it here as this place is way too loud to have a long conversation.

They went to the table where 3 persons are drinking 1 female and 2 men and the other one is an older man drinking only orange juice. Judd quickly notices the man on the left drinking but not paying much attention to anything else. He seems lonely for some reason. Carlos can't help but wonder why. When Judd called his name "Eddie" he looks and his expression change from lonely to surprise. I didn't know Judd knew him. The two hugs and Eddie told us that they met when he, Hen, and Buck head to Austin to help with the fire there.

They greeted each other and shakes hands while Buck is talking to TK while ordering a drink. When it's my turn.

"Eddie Diaz nice to meet you, Carlos," the handsome firefighter said with a smile. For some reason, he felt a smile form. They shake hands and proceed to sit with them.
