Chapter 27: One Step Forward

"You're ending us?! Why?" Evan asks furiously as he sat down beside Taylor.

Evan started asking what he did wrong? Which made Taylor stop and tell him that he did nothing wrong.

"Then why are breaking up? We seem to be doing just fine 3 weeks ago?" He asks holding her hand.

She stands up and grabs a few of her things from Evan's bedroom and puts it in her bag. She places her phone in the bedroom as she packs her stuff.

"TAYLOR?! What did I do wrong!!" Evan yelled.

"NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU! It's me alright it's me!" Taylor yelled upstairs, tears in her eyes as she burst all her rage and shame to him.

Buck walks upstairs and sat next to her, he asks what happened in New York?

"I... If you know you'll hate me" She responded looking at him with such regret.

"Did somebody hurt you, threaten you? Taylor, please tell me" Buck asks holding Taylor tight and not letting her go.

"I cheated..." She responded,

Evan is shocked by what he just heard. He asks again, hoping what he heard was false, or a dream... Anything to get him out of this nightmare. But it's not... It's real.

"With who?" Evan asks her.

"A guy named George" She responds hoping he won't get mad.

Buck took a deep breath and try to ease himself.

"It's fine. If you admitted it that's okay, right? You'll never go to New York so you won't see him anymore" Evan responds, being naive to think such action would be easily forgiven.

"How naive is that? To say such things so easy" He said to himself as his eyes tear up from all the pain.

As they continue to talk, she suddenly got a call. Buck took the phone from the bedroom and saw it's the guy Taylor is talking about...

"Is this him?" Buck asks showing her phone to her.

"I'm sorry Evan" She responds and Buck just couldn't handle all this anymore.

"Just leave Taylor, please. Before I say something that I might regret" He said and the woman left.

Buck looks at his room, his problems just keep piling up and piling up...with Maddie leaving, Taylor admitted she cheated.

Bucksaw the photo of him and Taylor at the beach. They were so different, happy.

He smiled at that photo before throwing it at the ground, shattering the frame like it shattered his heart.

Next day

Evan called his captain that he can't work today cause he's sick.

Such lame excuse his captain state but respect him anyway as he must be dealing with something serious.

Midnight...

At Eddie's home.

Eddie just finished reading his book and was about to call it a night when somebody texted her.

"Taylor?" He said and proceed to read it

"Eddie it's me, Taylor. I got your phone number from the kitchen at Buck's apartment. Can you please check him when you have the time?" She texted which make the firefighter confused but also worried.

Eddie quickly called his best friend which he didn't answer. He called again yet still no response.

This made him more anxious as Evan mainly pick up his call. He grabs his car keys and told Carla she will just head somewhere.

Evan sats on his balcony, feeling the cold wind, eyes looking at the building with such emptiness... Holding a big bottle of alcohol.

He looks down, yep it's high... A fall that high could end someone's life. Along with the pain.

He drank the whole bottle and stands up.

'Why do people always leave and never come back?' Evan asks himself.

'Maybe Christopher was right...

He remembered what Chris told him when he ran away from his dad.

"People go away, They leave and I miss them... I don't want to miss anyone else"

"So do I, Chris... So do I"

He stands at the balcony, one step could be his demise. One...more...Step.

"Why do people go? Abby, Ali, Maddie, and now Taylor... Why keep trying to live in a world filled with liability"

He slowly moves his leg, looking at the dark cold sky.

Eddie walk toward Buck's apartment when he saw TK going in the same direction.

"TK... Are you going to Buck's?" He ask which made the doctor nod and tell him that he left his wallet on his couch.

When they finally arrived, the door was slightly open.

The apartment is a med everywhere you'll see glass shattered, a picture frame on the ground, dishes broken.

Eddie opens the door further and saw a man standing at the balcony so close to the edge, holding an empty bottle.

Eddie and TK saw and quickly sprint towards Evan.

He jumps but, TK and Eddie manage to grab him by his arms just in time. They were both holding Evan from a fall that would have killed him.

The two use all of their strength to pull the man back to his house.

After that, Eddie and TK sign in relief and pull Buck to his couch to talk.

"Now Evan. Talk... What the fuck were you thinking!!" Eddie yelled holding the man at his shirt, ready to knock some sense into him.

Evan just looks at him with such dead eyes.

"He is lost and dead inside. I can tell cause I've been there myself" TK said asking his friend to calm down.

"Come down! Tyler he almost died! And you're telling me to CALM DOWN?!" Eddie yelled at the doctor pointing at his best friend.

"I know. But acting like that won't help. Just be glad that we were both here to catch him in time" TK replied trying to ca the firefighter down.

"Now... Evan. Talk! Why would you do something so suicidal?" Eddie asks not in the mood for this shit.

Buck started becoming soberer and soberer... He apologizes to them and started crying about how stupid he is

TK know how it feels when you're rock bottom. It's one of those nights that just blasted you so much you couldn't bounce back anymore from all the pain.

TK hugs Buck and told him that it's going to be okay he'll stay here for tonight.

"I'll stay here too" Eddie responds.

"Thanks, guys" Buck respond looking at his friends then at the balcony.

Since I have time to kill, wrote another chapter.
