Chapter 28: It's alright to Cry

At a coffee shop

"Are you sure he is alright?" Eddie asks TK on the phone.

"Yes, sir. For the last 7 times, he's alright. He's in the shower anyway so no big deal" TK responds watching some TV while keeping an eye on the bathroom door.

"Are you sure he been there kinda way too long?" The firefighter said, which is making TK more annoyed.

"I hid all the sharp objects and medication from the bathroom to my secret space in case he tried something suicidal again" TK respond.

The doctor then clarifies if he's on a date with his best friend? Which he responds yes.

"Then, I suggest focusing on your date, I got this I'll call you when something comes up" TK replied dropping the call before Eddie can even reply.

Back to the date

Eddie then looks at Carlos who is kinda silent. He asks if something is wrong and the policeman responds that they haven't even ordered yet.

"Sorry, I know it's our date and I'm talking about another man" Eddie apologize and Carlos understands it as he know TK for almost his entire life and the constant worry of him going suicidal can get out of hand.

Carlos holds his hand and told him it's fine, the man smiled but quickly pulled his hand away when he saw something... Or someone, Carlos turns around.

Ana saw Carlos and walked towards his table.

"Carlos is that you?" Ana asks holding a bag probably groceries.

"Oh Ana, haven't seen you since we bump into each other at the supermarket" Carlos responds.

The two chat for a bit like they knew each other and the firefighter stood there, confuse and afraid for some reason.

He didn't though that Ana would be here, then again they're outside so the chance isn't zero.

"Oh you and... Eddie, is that you?" Ana asks and the man nodded.

"You two know each other?" Carlos asks staring at him.

Eddie nodded, his movement shows he wants to get out of there and Carlos can see it.

"How do you two know each other" the policeman asked to wonder as they seem close.

"His my ex...wait the guy Eddie you mentioned is him?" Ana asks the policeman and Carlos looks at him. He is afraid.

Guess that's a perk of dating a semi-closeted man.

"Um... No. He's my friend" Carlos replied which shock Eddie.

Ana nodded and apologize for her mistake, she then told them that she got to find her brother who is supposed to arrive at this place 10 minutes ago.

They wave goodbye at her and proceed to continue.

Before Carlos can even talk, Eddie apologizes, desperately hoping that he won't be mad.

"Hey, hey, hey. It's alright Eddie. Coming out takes time and courage. It seems you're still a baby gay" The policeman responds with a smirk on his face.

Eddie on the other hand was confused and ask the man why he's so patient with him?

He responds that experience it as well when he was dating this guy, Jackson. He continued that that man was kind and patient... Really patient when he first came out.

As the policeman continues to talk about him, his tone starts changing from delighted to sad. Which made the firefighter ask what happened to him?

"He killed himself... Cause of an accident" Carlos responds drying his tears.

Eddie regrets asking stupid questions and the policeman said it's alright.

"Now... Are we ready to order or not?" Carlos asks handing him the menu.

At Buck's apartment

Buck stares at his reflection in the mirror,  tired and just overall depressed.

He continues to stare until somebody knocks on the door asking if he's done?

He opened it without even caring to cover his upper body nor respond to the doctor's response.

"Hey, Bu...ck. I mean, uh. Are you done?" TK asks trying to avoid gazing at the man's chest and focusing on his eyes.

The firefighter only gave a nod before heading upstairs to dress up.

TK has been observing Buck for almost the entire day and he just nods or do a slight gesture, enough to get the idea of what he wants to say... That's a lie, TK has no idea what the man's gesture is mostly about, nor how to even act upon it.

But he knows what the man is feeling... Yes, it's not the same scenario for him and Buck but just by looking at his eyes, those cold, cold eyes, he can tell that everything that happened was too much for him to handle... When he first met him, back when he was still a firefighter he is funny, confident, and really impulsive, stealing a firetruck key to save his father kinda guy... now I can barely even recognize him

He thinks it further and realize that people he gets close, end up being depressed or just damaged,  like his best friend Carlos, his ex, and now Evan...

"Am I a curse?" TK asks himself, staring at his reflection from the mirror across the room. All he can see is a scared and broken child who is always dependent on others to help him

"No... Don't think about it TK, you promise yourself not to pity yourself... to be better. to help..." TK stares at Buck who was watching a movie yet shows little to  no interest at all... " to help my Friend."

Minutes turn to an hour. Hours turn to a day and days turn to a week... Nothing much progress all that time, if we're talking about his emotions, but physically he got punched by Howard when he realize that Maddie told Buck she was leaving and didn't even tell him... so that was a shocker.

He didn't even think that this could get any worse... two hours later he throws his phone and when TK picks it up it's Taylor and he assumes is the new guy that she met... "what the hell is wrong with Taylor?!" He responds turning off the firefighter's phone.

TK looks at Buck and realizes he's crying. As a good friend, he move towards him and hugged him, something he wish he had when he was in Buck's position. He rubbed his back and told him that it's alright to cry.

The two lay there on the couch, TK never letting go of him, Evan doing the same. After everything that happened, he needs this. People show their care by actions not by words. 

TK continues to rub Evan's back calming him down. To the point that both of them fell asleep on the couch, still not letting each other go.
