Insipience- Lack of wisdom; foolishness.

"Damn, seven siblings?" Porter laughs as he drives to school.  "You poor thing."

I don't respond, I don't know how too. I guess that's what happens when both your parents get remarried. I never thought I would have that many siblings. After Zion was born, it was the three of us for a long time. I thought it it would always just be the three of us.

"You said you saw Hegan?" Kinzley asks, leaning forward as Porter comes to a stop at a red light.  "What did he have to say?"

"Vayda?"

Startled out of my own little world, I turn around, completely forgetting that I'm not the only one.

"Hegan? W-what..."

Chuckling at my bewilderment, Hegan sticks his hands in his pocket and takes a few steps forwards. Thankfully he keep a good distance away from me.

"I saw you as I was driving by and was wondering what you were doing out here in this weather."

This is weird.

I haven't spoken to Hegan since he broke things off with Everly. He doesn't even acknowledge me at school so the fact he stopped to talk to me is very strange.

I pull at the sleeve of my jacket. "Oh, I'm just waking home."

"Do you need a ride?"

"No," I quickly decline. "No thank you."

"You sure? How are you planning on getting home?" This is starting to make me uncomfortable.

"Everly's coming to pick me up." I lie.

Shit.

That was probably the wrong person to mention. Hegan features harden, "how's the bi-" he pauses, clearing his throat, but I narrow my eyes, daring him to finish the sentence. "How is she doing?"

"She's great actually," I stand straight, preparing to leave. "And please, if you're going to talk bad about my friend, do leave."

"No need to be an ass," he rolls his eyes. "Look, I didn't come here to start a cat fight. I was just trying to be nice."

"We'll I'm okay, thanks for the offer and I'll see you at school."

"Not much," I shrug. He doesn't need to know the whole story. I don't think we need to drag Hegan back into our lives. As much as I liked him as a friend, he wasn't a good one. I glance at Everly who sits next to Kinzley, her teeth clenched and her eyes burning holes through her phone. I feel bad bringing him up as I know she hates to talk about him, I didn't mean too. It kind of slipped its way into the conversation.

"Not much huh?" Kinzley rests her arm on the back of my seat, raising an eyebrow skeptically.

"Yup, just a short run into," I tell her, glancing at my phone. "Tell me again why we're going to school so early?"

"I told you, I have some important news," Porter grins, quickly glancing my way.

"And it has to be told at school."

"Correct."

"What could be so important that it couldn't wait until after school?" Everly groans.

"It's important to me." Even though his smile is full for bright and wonder, his actions say otherwise. Porter shifts uncomfortably in his seat as he pulls into the student parking lot, his fingers tapping anxiously on the steering wheel. "And they couldn't make it after school so we're doing this now."
