Chapter 19 - Manipulated Romance

“Hah... Gh...” I breathed as I slumped face-down into the grass. Buizel walked up to me and placed his paw on my back. “I'm ok...”

“Bui...” He shook his head. My clothes were soaking, and all of my muscles felt weak. I hadn't dodged a single attack all day.

“Dammit...”

“It'll take practice...”

“Huh?” I struggled to my feet with Buizel's help and turned. “Nelly...?”

“Hey.” She said, coming down the last few steps from the pavement.

“How much of that did you see?” I panted.

“About five minutes.” She replied. “I was counting the moves. You took over fifty Aqua Jets in just those five minutes...”

“Ugh...”

“It's fine. You'll get there, as long as you don't give up.”

“But it feels like I'll never make it...” I sighed.

“That's the case with lots of things.” Nelly stepped closer. “You never really know how it'll turn out. And you always fear the worst... But you can still try, right?”

I looked at her as she stood there, watching the sky. “But anyway...” She turned to me. “I think you've done enough today. You need to rest.”

“And I need a shower.” I squeezed the fringe of my hair in my fingers and drops of water trickled down my face. She giggled and led the way.

“Come on then. Everyone was getting worried.”

“All right. Thank you. Come on, Buizel.”

The Pokemon followed us as we made our way home.

“Thank you for your time. I think that was beneficial, don't you?” Neira Kiles asked, standing from the desk and pocketing her recording device.

“Absolutely.” Tobi nodded.

“I'll be back tomorrow, and hopefully we can go more in-depth into your feelings.”

“Of course. I look forward to it.” He smiled. The girl left the room and shut the door, which was locked behind her by the guards. “Haha...” Tobi strolled to the hard bed in the corner of the cell. “Perfect.” He looked up at the ceiling. A plan had been forming in his head ever since she had first entered the room. He was playing it out in his head, nodding along with each imaginary success.
