Lovers have something special. Something small that ticks in the back of one's mind when the other is in need. It is so slight, that at times, it feels as though it never came along. The tiniest of instincts, but enough to make the heart skip a beat.

That was what happened to me now.

It was sharp and quick, but not painful at all. A twitch, a tingle, flashing through my heart and mind.

I threw myself to the side, and the Ryuusei Blade smashed down where my head had been less than a second ago. "Nelly..." I breathed, rolling away.

"What are you doing?! I thought you wanted to die?!" Tobi growled.

"Help!" I cried, crawling backwards. Tobi ran after me and brought his sword down through the air. I winced, but there was the sound of clashing metal. Skyra and Janus had both surged towards us, and their swords were pushing up against the Ryuusei Blade, preventing it from coming down. They strained under Tobi's strength, but pushed back as hard as they could.

"Go...!" Skyra rasped.

"Get back!" Janus gritted his teeth.

I scrambled to my feet and ran back to everyone else, my head spinning.

"What is it?" Lydia asked. "What's wrong?"

What was it? I had felt something. Something... Pure. I couldn't have imagined it. Whilst I was lying on the grass, my mind at ease with what had been about to happen, everything had been clear. No interruptions. I had felt it – the instinct.

"Grrraaagh!" Tobi pushed Skyra and Janus back with his superior strength. He spun round and powered his foot into Skyra's stomach, sending him flying backwards. Janus slashed at the monster, but Tobi caught the blade in his hand, bringing his other fist up and smashing it against Janus' chin. The two swordsmen hit the ground, dazed.

"I'll kill you all!" Tobi roared.

"Toby!" Lydia called.

I snapped out of it and looked around. "Huh?"

"What was that just now? What did you feel?"

"It's Nelly..." I swallowed. "She... She's..."

"Toby!"

I froze. That voice... Slowly, I turned my head to face the sound. There, in the distance, and coming this way, was a girl with dark brown hair and deep brown eyes. Her neck was bare, and her chest was missing her purple accessory. I was wearing both.

"Nelly!" I yelled with a mixture of overwhelming relief, confusion and happiness. I took off as fast as I could, running right for her.

"Toby!"

"Nelly!"

She leapt into my arms and I spun on the spot, my head against hers. When we stopped, I gave her the most heartfelt kiss I had ever given her. She kissed back and I held her tight, beside myself with joy.

"I thought I'd lost you..." I rasped eventually.

"I was so scared..." Nelly kissed me again, her eyes watering.

"What the Hell?!" Tobi exclaimed. "I killed you!"

There was a gunshot, loud and very close. We flinched, but the shot wasn't taken at us. A bullet smacked into Tobi's head, right in the centre. His eyes twitched, and he balanced back on his heels. Any normal person would have been killed instantly. But the blue sparks were already repairing the damage.

I looked over Nelly's shoulder to see a familiar face. My half-sister, Megan. She was sweating and wincing, clearly in pain. The gun she had fired was in her hand. She gave me a weak smile.
