Everything was dark. I couldn't feel anything. My mind was dull and dim, paralysed. So that was it. Good versus evil, and evil had won.

"...Toby..."

I heard my name in the distance.

"...Toby... Toby..."

Was I dead? Were the angels calling me?

"...Toby... Don't give up... You can do it..."

Who was talking? There were too many voices at once. What was going on?

*

Down below, everyone watched with baited breath as I entered the black sphere. It continued to fall. It wasn't slowing down at all. The Pokemon began to whine. They could sense that something was wrong. Doubt rumbled across the crowds. Was it over?

Nelly clutched her golden pendant tightly, and it glowed softly. "Toby!" She called into it. "Toby!"

Darragh put his hand on her shoulder and joined her. "Toby!" He shouted.

"Toby!" Lydia, Xene and Victor yelled as loud as they could.

"Come on, Toby!" Skyra roared.

One by one, they all began to call my name. They gathered around Nelly and cried out, their voices picked up by the pendant.

"Toby! Toby! Toby!"

The people moved closer. Thousands – hundreds of people closing around in a circle, chanting their support.

"You can do it!"

"Don't give in!"

"Hang in there!"

The news crews caught it all, just like they had captured every image from the moment the fight had begun. All over the world, the same scenes were broadcast.

*

Darkness had spread across the globe. Every country that had been in the light of the Sun was now eclipsed. The whole planet had gone dark, and billions of people were standing out in the open, looking up at their doom. Through TV sets and radios, the same thing could be heard all over the world. A single name being shouted as loud as possible. Families everywhere, from India and Germany to Spain and Italy, joined together and added their voices to the cause. Children, adults and the elderly alike screamed out into the sky.

*

Nick and the Pokemon Rangers in Almia cried out with all their might.

In Hoenn, Ethan and the citizens yelled at the tops of their voices.

Holly, N, Alfred, Ryan and the football gang roared louder than ever before.

In Kanto, Vladimir Blayde leant against the windowsill of his hospital room and screamed at the darkness. In Fuchsia City, Alexis held her son's hand, and the two of them called out. Leo howled alongside them, and the whole city seemed to cry out the same way.

The whole world was screaming my name.

*

Slowly and painfully, I opened my eyes. It still hurt to move, but I could see, in the blank white space, an object. Floating just before my face was my pendant. The purple stone pulsing with a gentle golden light. I could hear them all. The people, crying out for me. The voices of millions of people I didn't know. But they were all depending on me.

"Toby! Toby! Toby!"

I gritted my teeth.

"Toby! Toby! Toby!"
