“Go, Angela, use Tackle!”

My shiny Feebas leapt upwards into Snowflake, but she did little damage, and my Togekiss was easily able to bat her back down to earth. The Fish Pokemon tumbled along the grass, panting. “Don't worry, it's ok...” I knelt down beside her and held out a blue Pokeblock. I had bought several for her at the shop inside the Pokemon Centre after visiting Grovyle. Angela strained up to accept the food, and chewed it gratefully. “Ok, you all right? Let's try it again, go, Angela, use Tackle!”

She threw herself towards Snowflake once again. When she was inevitably beat down, I picked her up and reassured her it was fine. Even if wasn't feeling quite up to everything, I still wanted to teach her that it was ok not to succeed every time.

“He's been out here all morning...” Lydia watched from the garden door.

“I know... He's really into it.” Nelly nodded. The Sun had only just risen from over the hills.

Snowflake took another hit from Angela and used Return to smack her back again. The purple Feebas flew into my arms and knocked me over onto the grass.

“Ah... You ok?” I sat up and held her. She seemed exhausted, huffing and puffing as Snowflake landed beside us to apologise for such a strong hit. “All right, I think that's enough for now.” I said, feeding her another Pokeblock. She ate it and shook her head, jumping from my hands onto the ground, ready for more. “Huh... You're not giving up, then?”

Angela used Tackle over and over again as Snowflake blocked the onslaught with her wings. “I wish I was as strong-willed as you...” I watched the little Pokemon go.

“Toby...” Nelly sighed.

“Feebas evolves by eating those blue things, don't they?” Lydia asked.

“Oh, yeah. It raises a Pokemon's Beauty.” She replied.

“Pokemon raise their beauty just by eating those?”

“Yeah. But, uh, people can't eat them.”

“Of course not.” Lydia laughed.

“You three!” Darragh called bout five minutes later. I turned around, surprised to see Nelly and Lydia there anyway. “Get in here, quick!”

“Return!” I brought my Pokemon back in before running towards the house. In the living room, Darragh was standing in front of the television, the remote in his hand. Skyra and Liv were watching it too.

“What is it?” Nelly asked as we entered the room.

“Look.” Darragh pointed.

There was a breaking news report, depicting destruction in Saffron City. There was shaking footage playing on screen, showing a boy standing alone against the police. “This is all we can show.” The reporter said in fear. “The rest of the footage is deeply unsettling.”
