Chapter Thirty Five

A/N hey guys i'm sorry for the slow updates i've been really depressed over the past few months due to losing my house in the 2020 bushfires and it just hasn't been a good time.I've been able to rebuild my home since then but i have lost many memories and unfortunately sentimental items.I'll be doing better soon and i'm seeing someone about it.I would like to get back into writing.I'm thinking of rewriting this novel because i lost motivation for it half way through and it's just not up to my standard.I'll finish this one but rewrite it in the future.

"Do you have any idea where he is?"

I shook my head,rubbing my hands nervously."The letter you read it yourself i mean..."i trailed off.I took a deep breath in,trying to calm myself.What was even going on at the moment?One minute Romeo was making sure i was resting and the next it's like he ripped himself away from me.

"Whatever or wherever he is i know it's not good,we need to find him before he's injured."

"What about Kasai?"i asked,Erza glanced at Jellal.The two leaders didn't have anything to say at the mention of my son who still wasn't here.Even with all the members returned."He hasn't been seen even with those who returned,"said Jellal.I tried not to cry,i was a mess.

"No one saw him?No one saw Kasai?How did they even get here there's no way they travelled all this way from the island just to be here!"

"They said a portal opened up and they took the chance.I don't know if it was Romeo or if someone else did it but we need to find Romeo,"said Erza.I nodded,i needed to find him.Alive,oh god i was pleading he was alive.I needed him to be alive.

"We can't risk anything yet,it's night and we can't be ambushed for his mistake."

"His mistake?His mistake?He's going to fight Hisao alone!"I yelled,Erza looked down and Jellal refused to make eye contact with me."We're waiting,just rest,"said Jellal.I scoffed,they had turned weak after their kids were born.

"Ever since your kids were born you have turned soft,it's pathetic.I can guarantee Jellal if it was Erza out there you would be leaving before this discussion even happened!"

"That's the thing Wendy,Romeo put himself in this position,"said Erza.She didn't yell,her voice wasn't even angry.It was just stern,like she believed it."You have no idea the guilt and crap he has gone through,none of us do!"i yelled.

"You are going to stand here and do nothing!Romeo could be dead already!My son could be dead!My whole family could be ripped out from under me already and you're too scared!"

Jellal and Erza tried to stop me from storming out of the tent.Natsu was pacing outside the tent,"what's happening?"asked Natsu.I continued walking past him towards the cliff.I heard him running after me as i continued to walk.

"Wendy where the hell are you going?"

"After Hisao,Romeo is fighting him and his whole guild alone.He's stupid i know but he can't die again,"i replied.Natsu nodded and followed me,i stopped.He turned back to me,a confused expression across his face."Why are you stopping?"asked Natsu.

"Why are you following?"

Natsu chuckled and tilted his head to the side slightly,a smirk to his face.He had a dark glint to his eyes,a murderous look that i hadn't seen in a long time.I shivered,he was ready to go after Hisao.I slowly caught up to him.

"I'm following you because you're an idiot going alone,i can't see you go through Romeo dying a second time.Kasai too,i know it'll break you.I don't care if i almost die,i'm not letting you go through this alone."

I nodded again,Natsu looked around before opening a portal and stepping through.I followed him and Natsu closed it behind him.I glanced around,i hadn't been on the island for long beforehand in the last battle because all it took was twenty minutes and we were beaten badly.

"Is it just me or is it quiet?"

I nodded,it was quiet.It was too quiet.I tried to listen further with my senses but it was still silent.I glanced around the landscape,it was lush with many hills.I shivered remembering the last battle.I pointed towards a cave down by one of the mountains.I couldn't hear anyone yet,maybe the wind around us was causing it?

"That's the entrance to the base,they're underground."

Natsu nodded and we began to jog down the mountain we had arrived on,which wasn't exactly a pleasant walk.We finally made out way to the entrance,it was clear now.I could hear it now,it was louder but barely noticeable.Natsu glanced at me and frowned.

They were chanting,not in some cult way but like they were celebrating.Natsu frowned and we made our way in,following the cheering.As we got closer we heard it much louder,echoing off the walls as their voices were screaming in excitement.I glanced down a large staircase.

"That's almost the whole guild down there...i can't see why they're so excited though."

Natsu tried to arch his neck to see but couldn't manage it.I frowned,we either jump in and possibly die or wait and possibly die."Are we sitting ducks or going out in style?"asked Natsu,i turned to him.Was he going too enjoy this?I rolled my eyes and tried to look,"don't jump yet i think there's a fight,"i replied.

"Who?Wait...Wendy....Wendy don't look..."

I frowned,i looked down anyway.Suddenly the cheering got much louder and i heard a cry.A loud scream echoed.My blood ran cold,i knew the cry all too well."No...no Natsu!"I whispered,Natsu didn't turn his attention away.

That's when a voice boomed over the cheering,"it seems our visitors aren't happy with our play,"spat a voice.The voice was known to me know,Hisao.The crowd started to move back.My hands were shaking and i felt sick to my stomach.

"Let's hope daddy makes him feel better..."

My eyes widened as a body was thrown into the middle of the dirt.He had blood dripping from his nose with his hands behind his back."I say we kill him and make the kid watch!"yelled a man.My heart stopped.

"Natsu i can't sit here."

"We'll die!"whispered Natsu,my hair turned pink.I glanced at him."Come with me or don't,but either he or i dies.I'll risk it,"i spat.I jumped off the ledge and boosted myself into the middle of the circle."Like hell you will!"i yelled.Romeo was on his knees behind me.

"Wendy what the hell-..."

"Shut up and burn those ropes,i know you better than that!"I yelled.Romeo gave me a stern look and brunt the ropes.Behind Romeo and in the middle of the whole crowd was my son tied to some pole,looking thin and extremely hurt.

"Lay a hand on my son and i swear to god i'll kill every last one of you!"

Hisao smirked,"i've got your kid.You're surrounded by my men,i'll do what i please,"spat Hisao.I heard a loud yell,suddenly Natsu was on the ground with us.He was behind Kasai,he lit his hands up and burnt the ropes off.Kasai was free.I knew Natsu had to leave.

"Leave!Leave now!"

Natsu nodded,"i'll come back for you,"replied Natsu.I didn't even have a chance to hug my own son as Natsu began to boost himself into the air to get away.I turned back to Hisao."You have nothing against me now,kill me,"i replied.

"I have all these man here who on command will kill you!"

"Because you won't fight for yourself,"spat Romeo.He stood next to me,i felt a sense of relief knowing he was okay to the point of being able to fight.I also didn't have to worry about Kasai being in the way.All i had to do was kill him.

"Fine,you want to fight me?Both of you against me,no one else?"

I glanced at Romeo,he nodded."We'll do it,on conditions however.If we kill you this is over,"i answered.Hisao nodded,throwing his coat too the side.This was the first time i'd seen him without it."Fair deal,if i win...I kill your son,"said Hisao.

"Deal."
