Chapter Thirteen

I leaned against the wall,in the background outside the crowd was cheering wildly.Today was a match for children,and although we wanted to watch Jellal had pulled us out of the watching area.Apparently some important news came out about the mages who had escaped of the island from out mission and were seen.I looked at Wendy who was nervously waiting for Jellal to come back,she was biting her nails.I knew she was worried from our first day in Crocus,when she assumed she may have seen them.I heard footsteps and saw Jellal returning.

"Sorry about that.But,we're concerned about your safety Wendy.The important news i needed to tell you,includes you.We recently found a small group of them,about four members.We identified them from eye witness',your description from when you fought them.One had a bag,with a letter containing something about Wendy.We tried investigating and interrogating them but two escaped.We found the other two hanging in their cells too."

Wendy ran a hand through her hair,then nodded.Jellal passed her some paper,asking her to read it.I knew Jellal would allow me to read in a moment,so i didn't read over Wendy's shoulder.I watched as she changed from confused to scared to horrified.I wanted to grab the paper from her hand but she wasn't done.Finally,she leaned back against the wall.She held back a sob.Then,passed me the letter.I wanted to comfort her,but i needed to see why she was upset.I began reading

Dear H,

We found her and located her.She's in the Grand Magic Games,one of the main competitors.We can identify its her,like you said she has incredible power.Not only is her power impressive but shes pregnant.At the 'ball' we caught wind that she was mates with that person who was with her on the island.Unlike other dragon slayers children,this dragon slayer has a child whose been birthed to two elements-air and fire.We need to take her now.The only thing stopping us from taking her is her supposed mate.We can get rid of him.Contact us when everything is ready.

I looked at the note in disbelief."What the heck?This has to be bullshit!"i yelled,Jellal sighed and shook his head."We're doing everything,unfortunately for now this is all we have on it.They escaped and killed themselves.We will do everything in our power to prevent anything from happening,to either of you,"said Jellal.I looked at Wendy,who was on the verge of tears.I pulled her close,"go sit down with Natsu.I'll be in there in a second,"i whispered.Wendy nodded and walked away,trying to put on a brave face.

"What the hell?How are we supposed to react to this?We could get ambushed at any moment by this guild!Wendy is pregnant,she can't fight!How am i supposed to protect her?I can't protect her if we have a whole guild coming after us!"

Jellal glared at me,"you know the guild has your back.We can help,we'll put precautions in place.You two will be monitored constantly,"said Jellal.I wanted to punch a wall,those precautions did so much until i was out of magic."You have a kid Jellal,how would you feel if people were planning to take Erza and Rosemary away?What about Reiki?"I asked.Jellal didn't answer.I pushed past him,refusing to believe what was happening.

I walked through the guild and found Wendy at the front,she was leaning against the wall.I sat next to her.Without saying a word i held her hand in mine,she squeezed tightly.I tried to relax and watched the games unfold in front of us,but the terrible overwhelming fear of Wendy being taken away was lurking in my mind.I had to be strong for her,otherwise she might go insane.I glanced over at her,her eyes were clouded over.I looked down,noticing her hand over the small bump on her stomach.I breathed in relief,she was just as ready to protect it as i was.

It was late in the night and Wendy was in the bath.I stared at the ceiling,listening to the rain patter outside.It was quiet,i let out a loud sigh and stood up.I pushed open the bathroom door,Wendy was sitting in the bath.She had her knees pressed to her chest.She was crying.She looked up at me and it broke my heart.Her eyes were red,she was shaking.I knelled beside the bath,pulling her close to me.Then she started crying more,a horrible heart breaking cry.I rubbed her back,trying to comfort her.Her whole body was freezing.I put my hand in the water,realising it was now cold.I stood up and turned the shower on,then helped her up.

"Take deep breaths,have a shower to warm up."

Wendy nodded,still shaking.She stepped in the shower,i unplugged the bath.I walked out of the bathroom,then found some old loose pants of mine and a jumper.I went back to Wendy,she was still crying.She saw me and got out,turning the shower off.I wrapped the towel around her body,she held it around her small frame.Despite her skin being warm,she was still shaking.I knew she was scared.I rubbed her back,letting her cry into my chest.

"I know you're scared but i won't let it happen."

Wendy nodded,then i helped her into some clothes.She was still letting out a heart breaking sob,but at least now she wasn't shaking.I turned the lights off,letting her crawl under the covers of the bed.I walked over and sat next to her.She put her head on my lap while i stroked her hair.Wendy sniffled,"i don't want you to leave me,"said Wendy.I sighed and leaned down to kiss her forehead.

"I'm not going to leave you I promise you that.This guild can do whatever they want I don't care.But they won't take me away from you."

Wendy nodded."What if they take me?And the baby?"asked Wendy.That was the one horrifying fear I'd had in my mind ever since I read the note.If they took her away,I wouldn't know what to do."I would do everything I can to get you two back,"I replied.Wendy nodded once again.Eventually I laid down with her,she rested her head on my chest.I stayed there,stroking her hair until she slowly began to fall asleep.

I could hear her breathing slow down as she fell into a deep sleep.I looked at the window.There was no way I'd be able to sleep.I needed to stay up and watch her,protect her.I didn't care what it cost as long as she was safe.I yawned,the drowsiness beginning to take effect on me.Then slowly I got worse and worse until eventually all that was on my mind was sleep.Then all at once I was out.
