Chapter Thirty Four

I woke up and yawned,rolling over.I must've slept through the night and well into the morning,everyone had woken up apparently.I sat up and rolled my legs over to the edge of the bed.At least i had energy,my stomach growled however.

I stood up and walked outside,seeing the guild walking around and mixing with the tribe.Everyone has this confused,worried and joyous expression on their face.I was confused,what happened while i was sleeping?

I walked over towards Levy,who was on her knees hugging someone."Hey Levy what's going on?"i asked,Levy turned around,her eyes were red and puffy but the smile on her face was one i hadn't seen in weeks.

"The kids have returned,last night we were woken up a bunch of guild members returned!"

I froze,did Romeo have Kasai?Was Kasai here?I looked around and realised Levy was speaking the truth,Natsu was on his knees,hugging his wife and children.Tears flowed from all their eyes as they realised they were okay.

Where was Romeo?I began walking around,searching for his familiar purple hair.I couldn't smell him either,usually as he walked his scent would leave a trail,except all trails of his scent were weak.

I followed his scent back to a place against a rock,he sat there for a while.I followed it again,catching traces of his scent until i was lead into the tent where we slept.It was stronger in there,he could've walked back to wake me up.I walked over towards the bed i slept on,underneath the pillow was a piece of paper.

Two pieces of paper actually.Maybe he went for a walk?Or something cute and cheesy?I sat down and opened the letter that was addressed to me,in curvy writing but still somewhat messy because Romeo could never perfect that aspect of his life.

"Hey Wendy come here we have some injuries that need to be checked out!"

I put the letter down and tucked it under some shirt."Yeah i'm coming,"i responded.I walked outside and began to work on people,some were old tribe members. some were guild members.Either way i couldn't help but focus on them.

I continued to work through everyone,and it was more then 'some' injuries,there were a lot.That wasn't accounting for the mental trauma though.As i slowly patched up some of them,they jumped at the touch.

I smiled softly at some of the tribe members,some were ones that i'd never met.A few were people i didn't recognise.The real question that i was dying to understand however was why did they return?Weren't they still trapped by Hisao?I shook my head.

I needed to focus on these people,they were injured badly.They were traumatised to the point of they were no longer the people they were when they were taken from their friends and family.Even as i examined Igneel,Lucy's son.

I gently lifted his shirt,feeling his thin stomach.He suddenly vomited,luckily not on me.I helped him turn to his side as he continued to throw up.Lucy ran over and kneeled next to him,brushing his hair."Let it out buddy,it'll help,"i said.

"Lucy go get him some water and something like bread or rice.He's malnourished and dehydrated."

Lucy nodded,then i sat him up and wiped his mouth."That should feel better shouldn't it?"i asked.Igneel nodded,i slowly began to check over his body to make sure there wasn't too many injuries or any life threatening ones that needed healing.

"Look if recommend he gets some rest and a lot of fluids and foods.He's obviously malnourished and lost some weight so we just need to let him out it on eventually and he will be just fine."

"Won't help be mentally scarred for life?"asked Lucy.I shook my head,he would be too young to ever remember this again.Well,hopefully.I stood up and helped him onto his feet.I sighed,this would be a longer day than i had expected.

I was being asked to inspect everyone,and so i did.I was running between people and made sure everyone was just fine.I sat down at another group of people."Has anyone seen Romeo or Kasai?"i asked.Everyone shook their heads.

I was beginning to get more and more concerned for their well-being.No one had seen them yet everyone had been returned?Romeo had just left and i honestly didn't know where he went.

I had assumed her went for a walk,and that maybe he somehow found Kasai after i had tried to go to sleep.It was close to evening now,as in the sun was setting and the light was slowly fading away and turning to darkness.

How come they hadn't returned.I finished with the last group of people and stood up.I was exhausted and couldn't find Romeo.I asked Natsu to keep an eye out.Then,i walked back to my cot and collapsed on the bed.

The fabric was soft and smooth and felt like heaven considering how exhausted i was.I reached under my pillow to grab the note,then i felt a second one.Two notes?I sat up and looked at them.One was addressed to Kasai and the other to me.

I frowned,why was Kasai being addressed in a letter?I opened the letter and began to read through the messy writing.My heart began increasing and my hands started shaking.It became hard to read the next few words as my hands shook the paper and my eyes blurred my vision.

I put it down and began sobbing uncontrollably,i picked it back up and began running towards everyone sitting outside,i saw Natsu and ran towards him.Everything was so slow and as i ran towards him i screamed out for help.

I passed it to Natsu,who as he read it his face changed emotions."Shit!"yelled Natsu.Suddenly everything around me was changing and i was on the ground sobbing.This was the same thing that happened last time.

Last time he died in my arms.
