Chapter Five

It was two days after the kiss and we avoided each other as much as possible.I ran a hand through my hair,i messed up.I don't even know why i did it!I mean,i knew i liked her and cared about her and i have for years but...i knew she didn't feel the same.I sighed,then i threw a shirt on.I needed to focus on the mission,afterall last nights events changed everything.All of a sudden the dark guild was seen to be leaving on a large ship towards the other side of the island,but after the ship left we were still attacked by a small group.There was about ten in the group,some of the more powerful mages in the guild.Wendy and I knew where their camp was,we just needed a plan to attack and confront them.

Which was what we were doing at this exact moment.

"I'm telling you,ignore the ship. There's still those ten mages we gotta get rid of.I don't give a damn about those guys on the ship,i care more about the people here."Wendy rolled her eyes,she ran a hand through her hair.Glasses were perched on her nose,she shrugged."But it's suspicious that all of a sudden they left?Why would they leave?"asked Wendy.I threw my hands in the air,we were just going in circles.Everything was so tense and there was an argument every two seconds.Just because of the kiss!

"I know its suspicious,but right now we need to focus on whats best for the Islanders,which is going to their base right now and attacking.It's nighttime,we have the advantage of high ground and darkness!"I said,clearly trying to prove my point.Wendy sat down on her bed,she looked down at the floor."I'm going to attack now,whether or not you like it,"i said.Wendy's eyes whipped up to me.She stood up,"Okay there's ten of them and one of you.I'm not saying you're weak but i'm saying your no Natsu!" yelled Wendy.I rolled my eyes and unwrapped a bandage on my bicep."It's suicide to go there by yourself!"argued Wendy.

"Then come with me.Either come with me and help me fight or stay here and be unsure if i get hurt or not."

Wendy glared at me.I took it as she'd rather let me get hurt.I stormed out of the hut,as i was walking i let Perseus i was going to attack the remaining ten mages.He was curious to where Wendy was,pressing me to find out what happened.I ignored him and kept walking.As i was walking through the ruined island,i heard footsteps behind me.I jumped and turned around,my hands lit up with flames.She gasped and fell backwards,i sighed.It was Wendy.One side of me was happy that she didn't want me to die.Another part of me was angry she thought i couldn't fight back."You came after all,"i announced.Wendy snarled slightly.

"Just because we're fighting it doesn't mean i want you to die."

I took it as an apology.We walked the rest of the trek in silence,looking out for anyone who might be a mage.It wasn't long until we came up to the drop of the cliff,below was the camp of the dark guild.I peaked over the edge,wondering what was going on.Why did some leave?Was there some sort of fight that divided the guild into two?I glanced at Wendy,who went into dragon force.she held me by my shoulders and lowered us to the ground.Once we landed safely,she transformed back.It was handy being friends with the sky dragon slayer.

"There's no lights on."

I nodded in agreement,there wasn't even a person on guard.I looked at Wendy,it was quiet.I heard Wendy cuss,i whipped around,she tripped over something in the darkness.I lit up my hand,it was a stool?For a bar or table?What was it doing outside?I shrugged and Wendy kept walking.We found an entrance to the building,it was half open.That was suspicious,even more so then a ship leaving with the guild on it.I glanced over to Wendy,who was almost just as clueless as me.I stepped inside the guild's 'hall'.I lit up my hand,a sudden sickening wave fell over me.

"Oh my god!They're....check if any are breathing!"

I looked at the scene in front of me.The bodies sprawled out,foam at their mouths.There was blood in some,some just laying there.I didn't want to even describe the sickening smell.I sighed,knowing that as Wendy ran around feeling their pulse it was no hope.I walked over to Wendy,grabbing her hand."I'm sorry Wendy,I think it's too late..."I said,she looked at me.Her eyes were watering,why was she upset?It wasn't the first time we've seen bodies."Why are you crying?"i asked,Wendy leaned forward into me.

"Because nothing makes sense right now!With us,with this...with everything!I'm confused and overwhelmed and i want to go home!"

I ignored how she felt about us,"let's go back.We'll tell Perseus what we found and we can see what happens from thee,"i explained.Wendy nodded,we left the bodies and horrible stench behind as we walked away.I looked behind me,shivering at the thought of their final moments?What happened to them?Was it related to the ship?I sighed,this was all a huge headache.I prayed it would blow over.

"Perseus?We need to talk."

Perseus looked up,he was sitting with his wife."Of course,how did it go?"asked Perseus.I looked at Wendy,whose face was grim.She was pale in the moonlight,i decided i should speak and save her having to describe the sight.I took a deep breath,remembering the image in my head.I shuddered,no.I had to get it out of my head,i had to tell Perseus what we had seen. After all,it was technically good news.

"We noticed it was really quiet,stuff was everywhere.We believe there was a fight or something between the members because when we arrived the rest of the guild...well...they're dead.Wendy checked their pulses,they were dead for sure.I counted,all ten.Tomorrow we'll do a search of the island,to check their isn't any members left behind."

Perseus smiled,"that's good news!We can return to peace,thank you for your help!"said Perseus.I gave him a weak smile,was it really good news?I shook my head,not agreeing with his words."We didn't do much,but if there's any further issues regarding the dark guild please let our guild know,"i offered.Perseus gave us a nod,but he was clearly happy.He leaned over and hugged Wendy and I.He pulled back.

"Tomorrow,we celebrate our freedom!Please stay for a feast!For now,go rest."
