Chapter Fifteen

I straightened Romeos vest,putting my hands on his chest.We were waiting at the guild,Jellal was just finished up some calls.After that,Romeo and Natsu would be leaving.My hands were shaking,i had a bad feeling and i felt so nauseous.I sighed,leaning against him.Romeo wrapped his arms around me,pulling me close."Promise?"i whispered,"promise,"replied Romeo.I thanked him.Romeo's heart was pounding in his chest.I knew he was scared.I leaned up,kissing his lips.Romeo smiled through the kiss,then i pulled back.

"I love you."

Romeo smiled,"i love you too,"replied Romeo.I gave him a reassuring glance.Then,Jellal came over.He stood with his arms crossed,Erza was behind him."We're meeting up with them on the outside of Magnolia,we'll be back around midnight,maybe later,"said Jellal.I wanted nothing more then to fight with them,but i knew i was at risk of getting injured or taken by them.I looked up Romeo,he hugged me once more.I looked over at Lucy,who was getting Igneel and Nashi too say goodbye.Reiki had already said his farewell and knew he was staying with Lucy and I.Rosemary was in a stroller,soundly asleep.

"I'll see you when we're back."

Lucy nodded,I looked back at Romeo.He gave me a quick kiss on the forehead before muttering one last goodbye.Romeo walked over to his father,giving him one last goodbye.Macao turned around and waved at me,i laughed knowing he'd stay as long as he could stand before he'd crash asleep in the infirmary.Romeo quickly jogged back over to Jellal,Erza and Natsu.With one last wave,they turned around and left.I sat down on one of the tables,with Lucy.

"I wonder how everything will go."

Lucy and i were exhausted,it was well into the early morning.I knew i should've tried to get some rest but i knew i wouldn't have been able to sleep,not while Romeo was in danger.Lucy straightened up and pulled her hair back.She yawned,then frowned."I hear people walking.I have a feeling that's them,"said Lucy.

Just as she said that,the door slammed open.Mages began pooling in,my eyes widened in terror.They were the guards from Jellals forces,and from the looks of it there were dozens upon dozens more.They needed help,i was frozen in my spot.The blood,the open wounds and the moans of pain.I had never seen so much of it.

"Lucy,get people settled down im gonna work on helping people."

I ran around,i needed the most critical."Those who aren't injured,help those with mild injuries.Those who need critical care now go towards Wendy!"yelled Jellal.He stumbled in,Erza leaning on him heavily.Her armour had fallen apart,it was so damaged.I had people come to me instantly."You three,gather the medical supplies from the infirmary.Help others,"i ordered.The men ran off.

I began healing those who needed it most,my mind had completely wondered off of Romeo and my worry for him.They were coming in groups,one after the other.Jellal was organising transport for those who needed hospitals.I decided to open a portal to a nearby hospital.It was chaos,people crying for help and blood pouring onto the floor.I could tell straight up that some people were dying and they were put into the portal.Nurses from the hospital had been warned,they were carrying people in and out on stretchers.

I was running around,person to person.Checking their wounds,patching them up.I was at it for who knows how long.All i knew was my dress was covered in blood.The light blue fabric now stained an ugly colour.I had rushed around so much,sweat was gathering around my forehead.Things would soon settle down,but for some reason i had my heart racing.

Then,Lucy cried out.I looked up,and saw Natsu.My heart slowed down,Natsu was soaking wet from rain or water.He was bleeding,covered in wounds.What was worse thought,that in his arms was Romeo.I felt shivers run across my whole body,the bandage i was holding dropped.I scrambled too my feet.

Natsu was crying,his eyes red.He set Romeo down on the ground,i felt my heart racing.I started to cry,worried for my mate laying in front of me.His vest was soaking,a mixture of blood and rain.I cried out,tearing his vest off-trying to find the wound."Wendy don't you've used too much magic-..."said Jellal.He went to stop me but i pushed him off.

"What happened!"

"I don't know!I don't know!We were on the boat home and he collapsed and i..."Natsu trailed off.I leaned down,listening for his heartbeat.I couldn't hear it.My eyes opened widely,i held a hand over my mouth.A sob escaped my lips,I sat up and cried out.I felt the warmth spread across my body.

I couldn't let him go,he was going to come back and be just fine.I watched as some of his smaller wounds closed,but the rest didn't close.He was bleeding all over,his blood was pouring faster then before.A large wound covered his stomach,i tried healing him but i felt a strong pain in my stomach.

I pushed past the pain,"Wendy!Stop!"yelled Natsu.I had wet,salty tears falling down my cheeks.Romeo had promised me that he would come back and he would be okay.This whole mess was going to be done and finished and we would live happily!I felt my heart breaking,each tiny bit cracking a thousand times over.I had never felt such extreme pain.

The flash of blue light died from my hands.I began to sob even more,i pulled the cold body onto my lap.I brushed his hair away from his face,it was slightly sticky from blood.I held him tightly,sobbing so hard.I felt like i was going to die,i didn't know what to do.Natsu got on his knees next to me,"i'm so sorry,"whispered Natsu.

I leaned over to Natsu,crying so loudly that the rest of the people in the guild hall fell silent.I cried and cried,screaming for hours.Natsu sobbed quietly into my shoulder,i knew he was trying to be brave for my sake but i had never felt so hurt in my life.I had lost everything,i didn't want to live a life without my best friend...let alone a life as a single mother.

I didn't know how to move,i couldn't move.My legs were stuck to the floor,my whole body was frozen in a state of grief.My heart was aching,it had sunk to my feet.I wasn't sure what time it was,eventually Natsu made me stand to leave his body.But as soon as i stood up the world spun around me and darkness overcame me.
