Chapter Twenty Four

I froze,looking at Wendy.My life slowed down in front of me."Mummy whose that?"asked Kasai,I'm assuming.I looked at Wendy,then Macao,my father,appeared.Great of him to get the kid before he saw me but sure old man."I'm sorry,he wanted to see you!"apologised dad,Wendy nodded.Then she walked over and held Kasai's hand.

"Macao,give us some space please."

My father nodded,then walked downstairs.Wendy turned the light on,letting the light show onto my son brighter.He was exactly like me,brown eyes and purple hair.Tan skin and already with a few scars.He had a runny nose,he was sniffling and the tip of his nose was red."Mummy,he looks like the man from the pictures,"said Kasai.Wendy nodded,slowly walking him over to my bed.She pulled Kasai onto her lap,asking me to sit down with her.

"That's because it is,this is Romeo.He's your dad,he's all better now.From now on that means he's living with us and he won't leave."

Kasai looked at me,nodding."So when the bad guys come you can hide with me?"asked Kasai,looking at Wendy.Wendy giggled,pushing hair behind her ears.I had no idea how to be a father to a child i barely knew."No,you know i have to protect you.Now i want you to get into bed!"Said Wendy,she leaned down and kissed his cheeks.He ran off,then Wendy sighed.Her happy expression faded.

"We have to talk."

I nodded,then waited downstairs patiently for Wendy to finish getting Kasai to bed.I had so much to think about,to take in.I was a father,we were in a war and i didn't know who was alive and who wasn't.I didn't even know if anyone knew i was alive,but from the looks of it my father hadn't told anyone.Finally,Wendy joined us at the table."Start from what you remember,everything,"said Wendy.

"I remember passing out near Natsu,i hadn't realised at the time but Hisao,the man you fought,was the leader.He was the one who killed those people on the island.I don't know what happened next,but i remember being carried and then i was just floating.I couldn't fell anything,move either.I heard voices but i didn't know them."

"I then woke up in chains.I don't know how,but i was on this island and i didn't know where but i was underground.I was tortured for days,then Hisao appeared.He told me you were in a deep depression,that the baby will die.I don't know how long i was there but i escaped.I made a raft and floated off the island.I eventually came across the royal navy."

"They took me to the Princess,who didn't know what happened.I filled her in on what i'd been through.I remember the ball,she gave me a job to do and i declined it.However,i thought you were dead Wendy.I took the job and became the princess's assassin.I found out who was high up in Hisao's monarchy."

"I got information,kill them and moved on.Hisao is an evil man,that fighting he had was weak.He wasn't showing his real power and i could tell.He captured me on and off,tortured me multiple times.Mentally,physically...i don't know.All i know is he has a plan,and it involves all generations of dragon slayers."

"The battle we just had,i knew he was coming after you.I tried as hard as i could to get here and warn you but they left me on the island.I melted the chains and...i think it was a dragon instinct mate thing but i had a dragon force.I flew to Magnolia ports and saw Wendy fighting.That's where this ends."

I looked up at Wendy,she had a hand over her mouth and tears slowly falling down her cheeks.My dad sat in silence,but i could see his hands shivering.I pushed down the vile experience i had been through.I couldn't show the weakness,otherwise i might fall apart.I took deep breaths.

"He's going after all of us,kids,mates and especially us Wendy.He wants us the most.I don't know why,but he will stop at nothing to get us,"i said.I swallowed hard,tapping my knee nervously.Wendy nodded,then Macao stood up."I need to think,i'll be back tomorrow morning,"said dad.I stood up,hugging him goodbye.Wendy turned to me,sniffling.

I opened my arms,then as the door closed Wendy stood up and fell into my arms.I rubbed up and down her back,would things feel awkward now?We had both changed so much,we didn't even know were we stood in a relationship.Dating?Fiances?Or just staying as mates,no title what so ever?"I'm sorry,"i whispered.

"Why didn't you come back?We could have helped."

I shook my head,"Hisao hates you.I don't know why,but if i came to you he'd follow.He only just found you before me,"i replied.Wendy continued to cry into my chest.Eventually,she walked upstairs and watched Kasai sleeping.I joined her,"will they take him too?"asked Wendy.I didn't respond.

I watched him,his messy purple hair falling over his eyes.His tiny hands curled around a plush dragon,the blankets covering his small body.He snored lightly,occasionally shifting."Will they take him?"asked Wendy,i tried not to look at her but i could feel her intense gaze burning into the side of my face.I held her hand,nodding.Wendy squeezed it,then walked off into my room.Or our room.

"What are you doing?"

"If he's gonna take my son i'm going to kill him,"said Wendy.I followed after her,then she took her shirt off.Getting ready for bed,then i noticed it.The bandages,i hadn't seen them earlier but they covered her small frame.Then Wendy turned around,"what he did to me was unbearable.What will he do to Kasai?"asked Wendy.She was angry.

"I don't know."

Wendy threw her hands in the air,"I watched you die!How are you here?"asked Wendy.I couldn't answer her question.To be honest,i didn't remember dying.I remember passing out,and that was it."I don't know how,i passed out,"i tried to explain.Wendy walked over to me,poking my chest.She was crying,tears falling to the floor.

"I held you in my arms,covered in blood.Your blood,to be exact.I tried healing you,i used up so much magic i almost miscarried.I have the dress i wore that night,it is covered in your blood."

I didn't know how to answer,then she walked over to the closet and pulled a box down.Inside was a dress folded neatly.I recognised it instantly,one of her favourites.She unfolded it,across the delicate fabric there was splatters of blood.In the section of the stomach,it was drenched.Wendy put it back on the shelf.Then it hit me.

"I died and came back to life,Hisao had something to do with it."
