Chapter Forty

It was two months after Hisao had finally died,Wendy and i were finally at peace with a normal life.I had just finished an easy four day quest without Wendy's assistance.She had been slightly ill over a week ago and was still not feeling the best

I saw the house get closer as i continued to walk.The quest gave me a couple tens of  thousands in jewels but it was surprisingly easy.The worst part of the quest itself was that the train ride was long,meaning i wasn't getting home until late.

The sun had already set,there was only a bit of day time left before it was dark.Luckily i was close to home so it didn't matter,i opened the door to see Kasai running around with a toy and Wendy washing the dishes.

"Hey i'm home."

Wendy turned around and smiled,Kasai ran up and hugged my legs.I leaned down and picked him up,swinging him around before putting him down."Gotta say hello to mum before we play,"i said.Kasai giggled and continued to run around.

"How are you feeling?"

Wendy shrugged,"sick like last week.I'm so tired,"confided Wendy.I brought her into a hug,rubbing her hips up and down."I shouldn't have gone on a quest,did dad come to help?"i asked.Wendy shook her head.

"He came down with the flu and didn't want to bring it to Kasai.I'm just...i don't know how i did it without you but i feel awful right now!"

Wendy almost seemed on the verge of tears,i leaned down and kissed her."I know,i'm sorry i would've come back earlier,"i said.Wendy shrugged her shoulders and a tear slid down her cheek as she held her stomach with one hand.

"How about i finish the dishes and get Kasai settled for bed,you can go have a bath and i'll put Kasai to bed.I know he's had a bath now it's your turn.I'll bring tea when i'm done."

Wendy smiled and hugged me tightly,"you're amazing.Thank you,"replied Wendy.I gave her a nod and pushed her off towards the bathroom.Kasai was next to me,i picked him up and put him on the bench next to the kitchen sink.

"Alright bud,catch me up.Mums still feeling sick?"

Kasai nodded,i frowned."All right you gotta be good for me,going straight to bed after this alright?"i asked.Kasai nodded again,seeking a little tired already."I forgot,the people from my quest,"i began.I reached into my back pocket.

"Look at this,the lady who i helped made you a little dragon teddy!"

"How...how did you help?"

I smiled and began going into the details of the story as i finished cleaning up the kitchen.Eventually ending with Kasai on my hip falling asleep with his new teddy.I carefully walked up the stairs,holding the hot tea and toddler in my hands.

I could see the bathroom light on,i knew Wendy was still in there.I placed the tea on top of a shelf in Kasai 's room.I put him in bed,pulling the covers over his small body.His room was warm,which was surprising for the season.

"Alright Kasai,goodnight.Mums sick so i'll give you two kisses for bed."

Kasai nodded and i kissed his forehead twice,making him giggle.I began tucking in his bedsheets under his body,"gotta stay warm now it's cold!I love you,"i said.Kasai yawned and mumbled a response before falling asleep pretty quickly.

I grabbed Wendy's tea and went into the bathroom,Wendy smiled and took the cup,"is he asleep?"asked Wendy.I nodded,she sighed in relief.The water was high up to her neck,she relaxed back into the water.

"Come join me,it's still hot."

"Yeah cause you don't add cold water,"i joked.Wendy rolled her eyes and i stripped my shirt off."So did he go to bed okay?He didn't fuss?"asked Wendy.I nodded and got into the water with her,throwing my clothes on the ground.

"But did he go to the toilet because-..."

"Wendy stop fretting,i can put him to bed you know.Yes he went to the bathroom,yes he's asleep and yes i turned the night light on the third setting for one hour because i know it's the perfect brightness for him if he wakes up in the middle of the night."

I raised an eyebrow,she huffed."I just want to make sure you know how too,"said Wendy.I rolled my eyes and she adjusted herself so that her back was now resting on my stomach.Wendy pulled her knees up,which barely poked out of the water.

"How has your wedding planning been?"

"I found someone to initiate,"said Wendy.I raised an eyebrow,she played with her hands."Who is it?"i asked,Wendy didn't say anything for a few minutes.I wasn't going to judge her for her choice,"I want Natsu or your dad too,"said Wendy.

"My dad?"

"And i want Kasai to bring the rings down,"said Wendy.I nodded slowly,taking in the information as i imagined the situation."I actually like the idea,except Kasai was gonna be my best man,"i joked.Wendy laughed and placed a hand over mine.

"That would be cute,except i don't know whose walking me down the isle yet."

I placed a hand on Wendy's stomach to draw circles,"dad could,Kasai could,Natsu,anyone really,"i replied.Wendy nodded slowly,still thinking about it.I moved my hand up and down her stomach,tracing a nail along her.

"I think i'm pregnant."

I sat up,sitting on my elbow."What?"i asked,Wendy didn't make eye contact with me.She stared at the ceiling.She held a hand on her stomach,moving it around slowly."Why do you say that?"i asked.Wendy shrugged her shoulders.

"I remember the feeling with Kasai,the feeling that something is moving.I can feel it there i know it's there.I haven't gotten my period and i'm sick at the scent of any citrus again!"

She turned over to face me,"we'll have to wait for the wedding,"said Wendy.She seemed a little sad at the thought of waiting."Why?"i asked,she frowned and i sat up,crossing my legs like a child."Okay here me out,"I said.

"Wedding in our backyard,steal chairs from guild.You go to get the dress tomorrow,we cook a bunch of food and we don't have to worry about anything."

Wendy frowned,"there's more to a wedding than that,"said Wendy.I grabbed her hand,holding it gently in both of mine."I don't want to marry anyone else,who cares what we do i just want it to happen,"i said.Wendy looked me up and down.

"Honeymoon?"

"We can go the next night,"i said.Wendy laughed and sat up,she covered my hands with hers this time."No one in the guild knows,not even Kasai or your dad.If we spring this on them-..."I cut Wendy off,kissing her nose.

"Here me out again,we live once.We've been through so much and i just want it to happen,so let's do it.We're here for a short time,let's just do it."

Wendy was silent for a minute,than she laughed.I laughed with her,"okay,"agreed Wendy.I jumped on top of her and kissed her face,not missing a centimetre of it.She giggled and tried to push me off.I held her hips as she giggled.

I leaned down and kissed her lips,smirking through the gentle kiss.Wendy pulled back,"you've convinced me,"said Wendy.I buried my head in her neck,she sighed in relief.I felt her nails drag up my back.The door creaked open,i sat up.

I lit my hand alight too see who it was,instead standing at the door was Kasai.He held a teddy in one hand and rubbed his eye with the other."Hey you okay?"asked Wendy,Kasai nodded and walked over to the bed.I leaned down and helped him up.

"What are you doing awake?"

He yawned and laid down on my stomach,holding his teddy."Sleep here,"mumbled Kasai.I glanced over at Wendy who giggled,i rolled over so he fell to his side.He groaned and cuddled up.I pulled blankets over the three of us.

"Goodnight Kasai."

He let out another mumble before going to sleep.I leaned over and kissed Wendy's forehead,finally going to sleep.I knew it was well into the night now,but with the best things in my life with me i didn't mind that the bed was a little fuller.
