Liv and I were on our way to my mom's house. She had one hand on the lasagna in her lap and the other in my hand. She was nervous to say the least, but I reassured her everything would be fine.

Carly and Scott said they'd come and Shanna said she'd make it over a little later in the evening. So when we pulled up there was already three cars in the driveway.

"Let me get that for you," I run around the car and get the door for her.

"Thanks," she gives me a nervous smile.

I place my hand on the small of her back and guide her to the front door. I don't bother knocking and just step in.

"Ma! We're here!"

"In the kitchen honey!"

We follow the voices into the kitchen and sure enough there was my mom and Carly prepping the plates and Scott snacking on the food.

"Hi guys," I let out as I take off my jacket. It was warm in here probably from mom using the oven.

"I made roast," she gives us a warm smile.

"Nice! Liv brought her lasagna. It's to die for."

I bring Liv over to my side and she places the food on the counter.

"Hi there, nice to meet you," she gives her a little wave.

"Come over here honey," my mom raises her hands gesturing for her to get closer.

Liv walks up to her and my mom pulls her in for a hug.

She lets go and says, "Thank you for the lasagna. I'm sure it's delicious."

"Not a problem. It's actually my Nonna's recipe."

"Oh you're Italian?"

"Yeah, on my mothers side. My Nonna is from Sicily and my Nonno is from Campania."

"Oh wow! So you're Italian Italian, how neat!"

I laugh, "So are we not Italian Italian?"

"Not really," Ma replies.

Liv scoots over to say hi to Carly and Scott and a few minutes later Shanna shows up.

We all take a seat, Ryan and the kids joining us at the table.

"Alright pass the lasagna I wanna try it," Scott reaches over the table.

We all serve ourselves and dig in.

The roast is so soft it nearly melts in your mouth.

"Oh my goodness," I nearly moan. "This is delicious Ma!"

"Oh thank you honey. Thought I'd make something yummy for everyone tonight," She smiles from the other side of the table.

Scott elbows me, "This lasagna is to die for!"

"I told you guys!"

I have Liv seated on my left and Scott to my right. They were talking to each other from either side, and everyone else was going on about how delicious Liv's lasagna was. It felt nice to have dinner with my family. And having Liv was extra special. It felt right, like she fit right in with everyone.

We finish dinner pretty quickly and before my mom ropes me in to helping clean up I drag Scott outside with me.

"Ow, you didn't have to drag me out here, I would have come willingly," he jokes.

"Yeah whatever, I have something I wanted to show you... In person."

"Ugh if it's something gross I don't want to see it," he goes to turn around.
