"Jus drein jus daun!"
"Jus drein jus daun!"
"Jus drein jus daun!"
Ethan's stomach is fitful. He watches the army of grounders outside their Camp, chanting for blood. Finn is inside, protected even from their fellow Arkers - some foolish enough to try and hand him over themselves.
They can't release Finn. But they can't fight this war, either.
The gun over Ethan's shoulder feels as foreign as it did when he tried to save Bellamy before the dropship doors closed.
Bellamy looks at Abby, who's stuck by the entrance of the station beside Clarke. "They're trying to scare us." He says, turning back around.
"It's working," Ethan pokes a tongue against his cheek.
He, Clarke and Bellamy follow Abby down to the secured gate, standing behind her for back up when she approaches the two horses and their riders just past the fence.
"Where's the boy?"
Abby rolls her shoulders back, standing taller, "We're not giving him up. We're ready to fight if that's what it comes down to." She nods.
The delinquents stare over her head, glaring stubbornly at the grounders.
They were in this together.
A foghorn blows in the distance, tense shoulders rising higher in response, heads whipping around to follow the rider's exit. The horses retreat into the forest, swapping with a single man. Ethan squints, trying to put a name to the face.
It's, "Don't shoot!" It's Kane.
He walks confidently, hands high, until he hits the open gates, eyeing each of the delinquents with a hitched brow. Things have changed since he'd last been here.
Ethan lifts his chin in defiance, staring Kane down. One thing hasn't changed, and that was his dislike for the second Chancellor - most of the Chancellor's, at that.
"Marcus." Abby greets. There's a smile in her tone.
Kane's lips quirk a little, "Chancellor."
"I was afraid I wouldn't see you again."
"I had those fears myself." He nods, glancing over her shoulder to search the camp. "It's good to see this place again."
Bellamy comes down, and it must be a surprise for the previous Chancellor to see the gun in his hands. Once a prisoner, now someone they rely on. "You can't be out in the open. We need to get you somewhere safe."
Kane's smiles again, amused, and nods. "It's safe, for the moment."
Ethan breathes out his relief.
The Chancellor's sidestep their small huddle, leaving them alone outside to have a private conversation elsewhere. Bellamy cocks a brow, watching them go, then glances between Clarke and Ethan. They look just as disorientated by the addition.
Half an hour later, thanks to Bellamy and Raven's curiosity, they know that Abby's gone from we're not handing Finn over to the drastic opposite of we are handing him over.
Pissed off by her sudden change in mind, but smart enough to think two steps ahead, the delinquents are already getting ready to run.
What better way to be true to their name, than stopping the order before it takes place?
Bellamy's darting around camp like a bat out of hell to find Clarke and Finn, Raven's working around turning off the gates and Ethan is searching the camp for Murphy.
