Goodbyes hurt

It was a beautiful fall evening when the confession came. We were eating dinner with Walburga on halloween night, before Sirius had agreed to join James and Remus at a pub that night for a guys night. Regulus joined us, so he could help me get the twins back home.

Walburga was watching the twins as they were playing on their toy broomsticks, Regulus and Sirius were cleaning up, and I was thinking of what the others were doing. Little did I know that would be the last moment together for a long time.

There was the sound of a crash outside the door. Walburga and I shared a look each grabbing a twin. Regulus and Sirius pulled our their wands and went to go see what the noise was. We were all shocked to see Peter crying in the doorway.

He locked eyes with Sirius, "I'm the traitor! I'm sorry! I-I didn't know what I was doing and I-I can't stop him. He's going after Harry tonight. He figured out where they lived. I'm sorry, we have to help them!"

Of course we already knew this, but it hurt hearing him finally say that he betrayed us. Regulus pulled Peter inside the house and shoved him against a hall, before pointing his wand at his throat, "You have done enough! The only thing you will be doing in going to Akzaban! Sirius, send your patronus to Moody."

Sirius did as told, as I held Rigel in my arms full of shock. He was going after Harry and could be there any moment. I handed off Rigel to Sirius and pressed a kiss on each of the twins head, "Mumma loves you both, so much. You be good for Uncle Reg and your grandmother, alright?"

I pulled out my wand and sent my patronus to Kade, "Meet me at the Potter's home. He's coming for them tonight. I'm going to need you there."

Regulus shook his head, "Monroe, you can't kill him without dying yourself! If you so happen to live, you won't be the same! You can't give up being the twins mother, to save the world!"

I kept my eyes on the twins as they looked at me with happy smiles, "I'm not saving the world. I'm just saving my world. If I can die saving the Potters, then so be it. It will save my kids. One life isn't worth three or five."

Sirius looked at me with tears falling down his cheeks, "I love you endlessly, Sirius Black. Thank you for making me a wife, mother, and being the best to our little ones." I pressed my forehead against his, "Keep them safe and soldier on without me."

He reached out to me, but I ran out of the house and apparated before he could touch me. I landed in the Potter's front lawn and fell to the ground crying.

This could be it.

I could never see them again.

Kade landed beside me with the same facial expression on his face. He looked down at me and helped me up, "It's going to be worth it if anything happens. They will all get to live a happy life. They will know we love them."

I nodded and we walked up to the front door. James opened it before we could knock, "What are you two doing here? Come inside it's freezing out there!"

Kade was about to speak, but we heard a crashing noise. We shared a panicked look, before looking at Lily and James. I clutched onto James' shoulder. "He's found you. Go take Lily and Harry upstairs. Once we got him weakened. You can run downstairs and apparate off the lot. Don't worry about us."

They seemed hesitate, but eventually nodded and ran up stairs. Kade looked at me, his eyes red and swollen from crying, "I love you, little sister. Together?"

He held out his hand for me to take, "Together. I love you, brother." I took his hand and we pressed our foreheads together, "Let's make Mum and Dad proud."
