"Hey, who's over there? What's that body?" the figure said.

"Don't worry, I'm trying to get Day to safety!" Bandana Dee replied.

"And HOW can I trust you?"

Bandana kept walking with his spear on his back, until he saw the figure's face clearly. It was a girl, who seemed like she was related to Day. She looked a bit young and stubby, but well enough to be mature.

"What... what are you?" the Girl asked.

"I'm a Waddle Dee... have you seen someone about as small as me, pink circle with red shoes?"

"Sorry, no clue. What are you doing with Day? Where is he?" this set the girl to a panic, but Bandana stepped aside to show Day, laying there safe as sound.

"He can't get up like this. Got anything to help disguise us while we carry him?" the Girl said.

"I got just the thing." Bandana replied. He took off his blue bandana, and tucked Day like a baby.

"My body is mostly a head, so my bandana can perfecly fit things like him. I haven't asked you about your name, though?"

"Tess. You?"

"Bandana Dee. You can shorten it to one of those two."

"Alrighty, Dee, it'll probably take Day an exact 23 hours. He's tried to get medicine a few hours ago, so we have basically now until the next night to get him to safety." Tess picked Day up and carried him as she climbed back up to the ground. Bandana followed ahead. When the two went back up, they were at a street that was empty.

"Quick, follow me before the soldiers catch us!" The two went over to a alleyway with some trash.

"So, Dee, how are you exactly gonna help?" Tess asked.

"I'm good at hunting food and finding shelter. See the spear?"

Tess looked around, and then had a thought. She pointed to a stick, held upwards with some piles of sticks.

"See the straight up stick? Throw your spear at it, and make it contact the stick."

"I can do that." Bandana steadied himself, ran at the stick, then threw his spear at the stick.

BOING!

The spear hit the stick exactly in the middle, and stuck to the wall. Bandana went to grab the spear and pulled the stick off.

"So, how was that?" Bandana asked.

"It was pretty good. I'm sure you'll be able to help us. And our family."

"So... what was this 'Day' guy  doing in the sewers?"

"He's been... gathering medicine from the hospital," Tess explained as she layed down on a wall, "Soldiers tried to catch him, but luckly he escaped before they killed him."

"Wow," Bandana said in shock, "that just seems kinda mean."

"I haven't noticed... where are you exactly from?"

"Well, you see, I don't know where I am now." Bandana went next to Tess as he looked at Day." I'm from Planet Popstar, and I've somehow been put into a bag and thrown into the sewers we were just at."

"Yeesh. Sounded like you failed your Trial."

"Trial?"

"They must've hurt you hard with that syringe and poison."

"The wha-"

"You see, Dee, the Trial is one of the things that can give your future more light, or it can make you droop down VERY low. Of course, me and Day failed mine, and based on context clues, you too. Us so-called 'failures' that the Elector calls us know the reason why we fail. We're being treated as lab rats, and frankly, I can't take anymore of that."

"Y- you think they'd do that to Kirby?"

"Whoever it is, I'm sure they will if he fails."

"T- then I gotta get out of here!" Bandana quickly jumped up with his spear, but Tess pulled him back down.

"Quiet!" Tess worringly whispered, "The soldiers are gonna catch you! Who knows what they'll do to you!"

A shout was heard around the corner.

"Hey!" a man shouted, "Who's there?!"

"Shoot, can't have them catch us like this!" Tess exclaimed.

"Quick, give me Day! I'll carry him with my stubby hands!" Bandana answered. They grabbed Day and hopped over the wall using the sticks. The man called soldiers, and soon it was an all out escape.

"Look, Dee," Tess ordered, "You find shelter for Day. I'll keep the soldiers distracted."

"Will.. will you be ok?"

"I'm sure of it."

"But what about-"

"Just go and keep going until you keep Day safe! You go left, I go right!"

"Alright!"

The two split off once they came to a cross section. Bandana kept running and running, thinking of a way to get Day to safety. He first considered finding a soft spot, like a garbage bin, but feeling Day's warm head would make that a bad idea. Then Bandana realized one of his great talents: impersination. So he quickly dressed himself as a poor mother and went knocking door to door, asking if he could "get her child to a calm spot, because he was very sick." Unfortunately, despite fooling everyone he met, they didn't let him in. House after house, report after report, one soldier chasing after another, the constant changing of clothes for Bandana Dee. All he wanted was to find Kirby. It took almost the entire day until Bandana was finally invited in by a man.

"*cough* Hello?" Bandana said in a elderly woman's voice, "I could really need some help here..."

The man opened the door. When he saw Bandana, he immediately noticed what he was trying to do.

"Let me guess, you gotta use my house to protect this boy you have in your blue sheet?"

Bandana knew the jig was up. He got ready to run away, but...

"No, no, where are you going, man? Come in, we got enough to fix him up. You can trust me."

"Alrighty then," Bandana said in his regular voice, "I trust you..." The man showed Bandana to a room with a tidy bed, table, and other nice stuff.

"This is where boy will sleep," the man said pointing at the bed, "Here is a blanket for boy to rest better. I'll go get him new clothes, bandages, and some fresh food." The man walked out of the room, and closed the door.

Bandana turned around to Day, now in a normal sleeping position, as he changed his bandana with the blanket.

"Oh, I hope Tess comes back, even more hopefully she's safe..."

The rest of the evening passed. Day hasn't woken up yet, but Tess came back, safe and sound.

"How is he?" she asked.

"I'm guessing the clothes and bandages are making it better," Bandana Dee said, wealding his spear. He felt right at home, when he'd always protect Dedede from any enemies. Although that only being one time, and one enemy, which was Kirby. Bandana Dee missed home, and Kirby, as well. All of a sudden, Day woke up.

"Tess, Tess!" Bandana shouted, he's waking up!"

"Great!" Tess stood up from the corner of the room and went up to confront Day.

Bandana watched carefully as the two talked. Something about a "Eden?" Cures? Even when the Man from before brought him some chili, Bandana didn't understand anything. He thought about this until he heard Tess call his name.

"...Dee! Get up here!" She turned towards Day. "He's not the only one helping us, cousin."

Bandana got up to firmly introduce himself to Day.

"Hey..." Day said, "aren't you the weird thing who I saved from the bag? Bandana Dee?"

"Eh, you could just use one of the two words," Bandana Dee responded.

"I recommend calling him Dee, cous."

"Well then, uh, thanks for saving me, Bandana Dee. Maybe I could help you with something?"

"You see, I was kidnapped and thrown into a bag, then here... This isn't the usual Pop Star I lived in, Day. I was tasked by Magalor to get some Gem Apples, but on my way, I was... ya know. The only reason is, I need to find Kirby!"

"Kirby? Who's that?"

"He's this Pink Blob with red feet and pink stubs, kinda like me," Bandana Dee tipped his bandana like a hat. "Really wonder if this is the dimension he came to," he whispered to himself.

"Well hey, that spear is kinda cool. Would really need one since I lost both of my knives. They were some good ones..."

"Maybe I could lend you one..."

Tess interupted Bandana by showing Day some kind of bag with three of a weird shaped thing... Bandana never knew what kind of things they were.

"I found these caught in the folds of your clothes and figured you might want them for your slingshot or something."

"Thanks, cousin." Day replied with a smile, as he went down to sleep.

"Don't worry, Day," Bandana Dee promised, "the two of us will help you for whatever you need." He then patted him on the head softly.

"You know, Bandana," said Tess, you've really proved yourself as a helpful friend to us. How would you like it if you joined our team? Well, it'll be more of a trio since-"

"Sure! Why not?" replied Bandana Dee, "I always keep my promises!"

"Great, but how can we signalize that you're part of the team?"

Bandana looked around, and found some scissors near a cabnet. Then he cutted up the top part of his bandana, and made it look more like a headband.

"Always keep a spare around me, anyways," Bandana said as he put his new band on his head, "Don't know why, but it's useful."

"Good. Once Day fully recovers, we should be able to get out to bet some Notes for the Skiz fights."

"Huh? Skiz fights?"

"Oh? You never heard of Skiz fights?"

"Not at all."

"Well, it's simple, really. It's just a bunch of weirdos brave enough to fight, and we bet on which one would win."

"Are there any rules for betting?"

"Simply two: Pick on the person you think will win, and then bet on them. If we're able to correctly bet all of the fights, we'll be able to gain medicine for Day's family and me."

"Well, I'm kinda good at knowing who wins!"

"Well then, rest up. Day won't wake up for a bit, so get yourself comfortable, Dee."
